Re: Changing our hours next week !!
Remind the Gorilla of a DIM, that according to the 2007 pay & modernisation agreement, any changes to hours on saturday has to be agreed by your office.
Now, I really don't see you have a problem, if the Gorilla insists on treating you like shyte, go to the canteen en masse and refuse to budge unless he climbs down, or alternatively, throw a sickie next saturday.

Sorry, I should have said nearest coffee machine to the Gorilla's office, but you get my drift, yes?pdosouth wrote:Canteen ?? Whats one of them ??
The Gorillas working for RM will only shaft you, if you allow them to shaft you. If your office rep is no good, then contact your area rep, if you allow longer saturdays this week, you'll never see the end of them, even after the strike.

Re: Changing our hours next week !!
is this not longs and shorts, which has already been agreed in the 2007 agreement, if so how can we argue it? Apart from it saying people can be ASKED to work 30 minutes over there time in any given week, asked not told. Unless you all say you have somewhere to go on the saturday morning straight after work.

Re: Changing our hours next week !!
Longs and shorts are agreed hours and not subject to random changes, we've had them in our office for ages. I'm surprised the union let this one slip by, we work more than 40hours some weeks and less than 40 hours other weeks - god knows how many people (spares/reserves who get moved from duty to duty and have random days off each week) have been conned out of unpaid hours by this little idea. I wonder how many actually check their hours week after week to see how many hours they've actually worked... None I bet!is this not longs and shorts, which has already been agreed in the 2007 agreement, if so how can we argue it? As you point out the flexibility bit is where you can be asked to work longer by up to 30mins although it's not compulsary if my understanding of the agreement is correct, plus they have to take into account any personal circumstances (well, that's what they say, what they do is a different matter)

Re: Changing our hours next week !!
Look at the 2007 agreement, saturdays are to remain unchanged, no flexibility no changes of hours on a saturday its right there in the agreement of 2007, they can only mess around with weekdays.

Re: Changing our hours next week !!
My understanding is that they can not carry the flexed time into another week - so if you are asked to come in late - the time has t be made up or list on or before the Saturday of the same week.

Longs and shorts is changing start or finish times permanently - not on a day to day basis.
Flexibility is a change start or finish times over a week temporarily.
Under both no one should be expected to work over their contracted hours.

4. SECTION 2 – DELIVERING CHANGE AND FLEXIBILITY
Change is to be shaped and implemented in four phases.
Phase 1 – Immediate Operational Changes
Start times and Network 2007
Royal Mail has introduced later start times for operational reasons. CWU note these changes. Given that there has been little or no opportunity for discussion about these changes at local level, both Royal Mail and CWU are committed to resolve any outstanding issues. Royal Mail and CWU will urgently review these arrangements at local level in line with the following:
*
Henceforth the normal start times will be between 0600 and 0630
*
Changes in start times should take account, as far as possible, of individual circumstances
*
Saturday start times and the overall length of attendance on a Saturday will remain as before unless agreed otherwise locally
*
Saturday attendances will be reviewed in the Joint Working Group (2) as part of the introduction of a new delivery model
