Overtime after strikes

I suppose they will be telling us we cant claim overtime after strike , like they did first time .Then after a while they tell us we must work over our time .It gives me great pleasure to remind them id love to but you told me i couldnt work overtime

After I/A all overtime should be refused anyway. Whats the point in losing a days money to then go in and clear by booking an hour or two on the next day . Dim Dom will be laughing his head off at that.

we were told by our dom that after a strike we will have to simply work our hours with no going over and bringing any undelivered mail back. we then told him how ironic that was as if this was the case everyday to begin with then there would have been no need to strike

Agree with this--following the strike, there should be a follow up period of working to rule--this way we can make sure any agreements reached would not be tossed out the door after we go back--

i cannot agree more with the above. people have said "strike one day then overtime for the rest of the week = a full wage" some people cannot see further than their next wage. if after a strike a work to rule was enforced across the country royal mail would never clear any backlog. hit them now and hit them hard.

In my MC we are never offered OT after IA - management say it would be 'rewarding' striking.
It's good in a way as even with casual/Agency staff they can't clear backlogs.
During the 2007 rolling strikes, backlogs built up quickly, even though it was the 'quiet period'
of July/August, and RM brought in casuals/Agency staff.
This time there is already a backlog, staff levels have been cut, mail levels are growing as we
go into our busiest period, Xmas is not far off.
We are in a strong position and need to get a a good agreement. We shouldn't be working OT
to clear backlogs.If we don't get an agreement now, we never will.

They've been giving Inductions to a large number of Agency at our place, recently. But none of them (at least on my Shift) have started yet. So they're obviously intending to use them on Strike Days, and to clear the backlog.

I am! Seriously though, I've never had any time for people who steal from their own, which is what happens when someone decides to help him/herself to a DVD, CD or book someone has had to work to pay for. But this just shows that the bosses have less concern for the public than we do.

yes you are right there mate but managers don't care as long it is out of the office (i mean on deliveries) :cfo :cfo
