Lets just say a whole office went sick on a certain day (possibly maybe even a week )during the strike action, RM would have to pay wages as normal. As long as there is nobody in danger of stage 3's etc.......This would really piss them off, but could they prove anything..?

Go out and don't get paid. It shows that we care more about our conditions than a days pay. If you can't afford to strike, then leave the union and the job and work for Tesco. This Ballot is going to be the biggest show of strengh from postal workers. The management have asked for a war and they are going to wonder what has hit them and this gutless government. It is the end of New Labour, Adam Crozier and bullying managers. Stick together on this one people. Vote yes, strike and sacrifice a day of pay for how ever long it takes. Pulling a sicky during a strike proves nothing.
Also if everyone did go out sick on 1 day from an office it would not be beyond the wit of even the most junior lawyer who just passed the bar exam to prove it was "Unofficial Action" just based on statistical probability and if the CWU were involved they would have their funds sequestered. If anyone really wants to go out on UIA its a lot easier to just walk out.

They make £1 billion profit each year and give their staff a 68p breakfast as a reward perhaps?

I'm sorry but I have to agree it is about not getting paid and showing that you are prepared to fight for you're working conditions, by making sacrifice - something those at the top of Royal Mail aren't. And everything is wrong with Tesco, it's the epitome exploitation RM is heading towards.

20% of Tesco sales come from non-food goods e.g. their clothing range. The clothing trade is notorious for sweatshop production. Chinese factory girls who make lingerie for top designer brands (including those used by Tesco) earn as little as £1 a day while living in a grim industrial complex…

Prison Service staff have done that - apparently but they can't strike ? . With all due respect a Prison's Security is more important than backlogs of mail .
