Do you ever deliver after 14:00 (Town), 15:00 (Rural)?

I've seen a couple of stories in the Press now, about people getting their Mail long after the 14:00 deadline for the USO. I've also seen loads of stories on here, about people being expected to work either paid, or unpaid overtime, to get it all delivered. Which I assume, would take them beyond the 14:00 deadline.

So I thought it would be interesting, to find out whether the problem of USO failures, really IS widespread, or not. And whether it's getting reported to the Regulator.

Deliver past 14:00 every wednesday, thursday and friday. Our finish time is 14:40. I was not aware that this wasnt standard procedure?

Finish time 12.30 so last letter posted by 12.10. Never near 14.00. Some f/t staff get close to it on Thurs/Fri and obviously doing o/t.

Rurals have a USO of 3.00pm.

Also I have heard that some managers use the travelling back from duty to actually make the walks officially finish before 14.00/15:00.

Just to muddy the waters as well the USO as I understand it can be broken for operational reasons, but it cannot be planned to be broken. In other words no delivery duties should be planned for a last letter after 14:00/15:00. However as I understand it redels and 2nd attempts (tracked items), and some packets do not fall under the USO so that may be how some mangers get round the USO.

Its standard to work till near 3.30pm on the part-time duties.

Thursday and friday i donot get out on delivery till 10am 4hour + delivery Our finish time is on Thursday and Friday 14:45,Royal mail just donot care about rules and even less about customers And us postmen and postwomen they treat us like slaves. :mfo

So presumably, that's why we're suddenly seeing these stories. It must be because of the backlog from the Strikes. But if so. Does that mean that they're no longer lapsing in the affected DOs?
Or is lapsing contributing to the problem?

Presumably that includes letters, does it?
If so. Why are they getting away with this. There are, as Teebs pointed out, exceptions to the USO. But that doesn't include STL or Mailsort (except during short term unexpected problems). If they're being delivered after the deadline 14:00 Town, 15:00 Rural, on a regular basis. Then surely that's a serious failure of the USO. And the DO's concerned, should be forced to provide enough Posties/Agency, to get the Mail delivered before the deadline!

When I started this Poll. I sincerely hoped that it would turn out to be a few isolated cases, being picked up on. But currently, there's only 17% of the people who've taken part. Who don't deliver after 14:00! Now I realise that I made a mistake when I set up the Poll. I forgot, that the deadline for Rurals, is an hour later. But that doesn't explain the results so far.

Now I know there are major backlogs in the areas, which still have Strike Action. But there aren't enough areas affected, to account for the results on here, are there?

I am a rural and my official finish time is 15.00. I only finish under this time on a Tuesday (unless I have to break off for a special), and sometimes on a Saturday when my finish time is 14.30, but not as often as I'd like .

I often finish between 15.20 and 16.00. It's started to piss me off of late, and I refused the lapsing today....I finished at 15.35!!! I cannot believe that this lapsing looks like it's going to stay beyond the summer. I won't be doing it much from now on, I've enough to do.

im p/t and do the lapsing before my duty everyday.
if lapsing is supposed to save money then it does not as i go over my time daily and so in turn book o/t.

i am on 24hrs a week and do 4hrs 48mins a day. start time was 09.30 finish at 14.00 then have my break. usually a different walk every week. since i told the dom i couldn't do a 4hr walk, absorb and bag up my walk, parcels, redirections, kill off mail and whatever else goes with bagging a walk. he has with thirty days notice moved my start time to 10.00 so if i have my break last the earliest i will finish is 14.30 most walks are 3.45hrs to 4.15hrs. this late start was done to accomodate the missorts, then two weeks later it was done to allow more time to bag my walk for me. always moving the goalposts. he has had a couple of phone calls off me where i informed him i couldn't finish without going over which i was not willing to do, nice of him to complete my walk for me. they tried to rob me before and rarely is overtime paid the following week, always have to chase it so i told him no pay = no play. i am always in early [i don't start work until my time though] but i like watching him bag my walk which he sometimes has to do. bundles/packets in the wrong bags, overweight bags [which he denied untill i put my 5th bag on the scales 15.7 kilo] all brought back i have had the standard lines ie they are not 4 hour walks, other people complete etc to which he gets my standard replies i am not paid to run and come and time me. i did ask him if he had a problem with my work rate but he didn't fall for it.
