what can managers do/not do?

As the title suggests its a question i would like anyone to reply to, what exactly are managers allowed to do?

I mean as far as i ma aware they are allowed to move a yorl/alt etc if it is deemed unsafe, so for example to put it into a safe place but thats it isnt it? Just tonight, like most nights, the managers were doing what i would consider post persons jobs. How could it be allowed and then managerment talk of job cuts? i dont understand. So can anyone help me with this?

WELL......IN our m/c managers can and should be moving anything that is deemed "unsafe"and so should you..,on managers doing our work ,unless theres a chance the dispatch will fail then they shouldnt be doing it PERIOD...but and theres always a but when it comes to royal mail they still do it ,not a lot but they do ,mostly when challenged they do stop ..so hows that

Our manager comes in early and puts out all mail from yorks onto the IPS frames, then does the missorts.

I have stopped a manager in our office from sorting the mis-sorts as this a done by a driver but the DIM was doing there work when they went out to do packets .We also had another DIM that would rip/tip bags when they came off the van but we stopped that aswell get onto your rep to have a word

Careful who you call DIM there fella, misuse of the word there ( their ).

Our manager sorts in a walk on a daily basis. He said if we sorted a bit quicker then he would'nt have to

In london we are taking industrial action to save jobs, how can we have job cuts and managers doing our jobs also? why isnt this stopped? I have mentioned it to my CWU reps but they dont seem to care
