wtl
Hello everyone i was just wondering wether any offices still have wtl because it has been well over 12 mths since we had a wtl session in our office has royal mail now kicked these sessions into touch as they are so patronising anyway or is it just our office that has stopped them

LISTEN comrades make sure you get your wtll every week ,its built into your working week ,take no excuses use your rep ,tell your manager, if your getting nowhere with these people GO higher ,dont just let it lie ,go higher until you get an answer
The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

Re: wtl
the problem in our office is that ppl are glad we dont have wtl sessions any more because of in the past they have been so stupid and at times when a video was played on a 14 inch portable for 90 staff to watch hiliarous im in no doubt at times we have and we will miss out on some very important news but on the other hand i think they were a pain in the back side to do for our managers

Had ours as normal every tuesday and the plank whent on about needing to modernise be more flexible thank royalmail you had a job instead of being redundent the unions fault that we only do 3 households because they will save royalmail wear your helmit and hiviz traffic figures down year on year and he all but admited under grilling that the state of royalmail was senior managements mistakes but that was then and now is now so we better get used to it as it was how it was going to be so pretty normal sh1t coming from his gob really.

I am a postman and I kept the faith and I kept voting, not for new labour but for the working man.

Taken from a 1999 document (Training Partnership March 1999) Appendix B relates to WORK TIME LEARNING.
Work Time Learning is being introduced to provide employees with regular learning opportunities via weekly communications and training sessions. In the short term, WTL will focus on new and refresher training in groups. In the future, the model will be reviewed to include other forms of learning i.e. individual training.
* Introduction of 30 minute sessions will normally be via a revision to ensure they are scheduled within Conditioned/Contracted hours (other agreed initiatives to be the driver for the revision).
* Offices that can introduce sessions within conditioned hours where a review is not planned can do so if agreed locally).
* Sessions will not be held in overtime/scheduled attendance; where necessary and acceptable contracted hours will be adjusted for less than full time staff.
* Managers and substitutes must be super coach trained before leading at WTL session.
* Managers will not lead more than 3 WTL sessions per week.
* The sessions will take place in a designated area away from distraction (e.g. conference room, team bay or equivalent area).
" WTL sessions will be held in groups of 10 - 15.
* WTL sessions will be scheduled for between 46 - 48weeks of the year the exclusion will be for the Xmas pressure period.
* The weekly sessions will be built into duties at a time when it does not jeopardise operational standards and customer services (e.g. 0700 - 0930 hours in deliveries).
* Sessions planned for bank holidays will be scheduled within conditioned hours for another day of the week wherever possible.
* The calendar mix of the sessions will endeavour to meet the needs of the business, operational unit and individual. The sessions will be drawn from a variety of sources and scorecard between
* Initiatives from the National Business Plan
* Divisional initiatives
* Area and local management requirements
* Employee driven training sessions
A 6 month calendar will be communicated nationally a month in advance of it's introduction.
This WTL standards specification will be subject to a joint 6 monthly review process.
Please note that this information relates again from 1999 and is intended for informational purposes only.

Re: wtl
We have them every Tuesday and we actually get a good laugh out of them especially with the tripe they come out with, it's more like the muppet show than anything useful and we do wonder how the people running the office now ever became management material in the first place? they certainly haven't got the inteligence or communication skills that management had when I first started the job.
It's got to a stage now where they've had to break us up into 3 separate groups as managment seem unable to answer our questions and wish to avoid imbarasment in front of the whole floor, royal mail need to understand there is a practical side to this job, something very few managers have any understanding of
