Hi there,

Brand new to the royal mail as from tommorow. Quick question;

Whats the dress code for the Induction day they hold at the Royal mail centres?

Im assuming its just casual, but wanted to check just in case.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Smart, but certainly casual. (ie no need for shirt and tie etc)

Joined 2 months ago, most people were in jeans so smart casual should be okay.
Induction day only lasted 4 hours including lunch!

My induction lasted for 4 days! Changed times.
My induction was about 6 hours, it's nice to see the company values training as much now as it did then :d'oh!

Back in 2007 my induction day lasted about 6 hours aswell :nana
And yeah casual is fine mate you'll be alright

My induction was 4 days too ~(back in 2004). Was really surprised actually, was pretty good as inductions go (even had to introduce ourselves :crazy: ).

Induction ;You only get to deliver two letters a week; Its a hell of a job beating competitors operatives to both those gates: and if you can do this and somehow deliver another 8-10,000 phantom items in 1hr per week ,you'll do fine

IIRC my training and induction lasted three weeks in 1981.
Two weeks training at the RM school, then one week induction at my office,
including half aa day with a CWU Rep.

I joined in 1994 and my induction lasted 5 minutes,it consisted of "see him over there shadow his walk for 3 days then your on it".Im still here now 15 years later. :shock:

Yeah - it was known as Belgrove. There used to be a lot of prostitutes plying their trade in the
surrounding streets. There were two classes of 20 destined for Mount Pleasant when I was there.
Of the 40 people who started with me about half left RM within the first 18 months.There are
only 2 of us left now out of that 40.

I also did another 2 weeks training at Belgrove when I went PHG, and then another 3 days I think
it was, for RLD Training.

Those were the days when RM did training.
