Hi...
I work in processing PT, I'm a member of the union, I've just taken some special leave (unpaid) after discussion's with my shift manager and SR about personal issues. My manager has stated that its still okay for me to use the gym facilities at work which is cool. I'd also signed up for a computor course which is run through the union and is based at the mail center I work at. The course started today, but when I turned up today I was told that I can't do the course as I'm on special leave and in actual fact should even be in the building. Is there any truth in this?
Thanks in advance
Dawn

Re: SPECIAL LEAVE - COURSE - ENTITLEMENT
The problem with special leave is that it is all at the managers discretion(even unpaid), you have asked not to attend work for your personals reason's, from there point of view you can't come into work and then do a computer course(they don't mind the gym because that is seen as beneficial to you and them) obviously I don't know your personal details, so get in touch with your local union rep and find out there opinion, but I fear you may be disappointedDawn wrote:Hi...

Re: SPECIAL LEAVE - COURSE - ENTITLEMENT
You've obviously got it sorted already, but just to add the Learning Centre
courses in my MC usually run for 13 weeks, and it is almost impossible to take
part on one, without having a period of Annual Leave falling within it, so people
are encouraged to come in when they are on leave, to complete the whole course.

The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.
