seniority in mini re sign

Post by drevil1969uk »

Hopefully someone can help me

Recently i was made up from an ag to full time but i have a problem.

Ags at my mail centre were asked in order of seniority to sign against a job and we did, i signed for lates reserve, about 8th in the list.

Now here lies the problem, the 3rd duty in the reserves list was vacant. Someone with less senioirty than me had picked an early duty, but as with me was reasonably grateful just to get a full time job. That 3rd in the list reserves duty became available, and the union knowing that the fella who had signed for the early duty really wanted a lates job offered him this reserve duty. Now in the reserves list he is senior to me, why didnt they offer me that job and him the less senior one?

I wonder what i can do to argue this as it all seems a bit shite, any advice is very welcome.

You said recently there was a repick and you selected the duty you are in.

If its the same as at a DO then you have to stay in the duty for 6 months to a year I think. It may be thats whats happened here and they have done the best out of a bad job. However if they did then common courtesy would have been to have a chat with you and explain why they chose him and not you.

The way forward agreement says

14.1Employees taking up internally-advertised posts will be dedicated to them for a minimum of12 months. No applications for job moves will be considered during that period, unless they are:

For specialist posts;
As a result of serious personal or domestic reasons, following discussions with local CWU representatives.
