No. 137/2009
Ref. L16.04
Date: 19th February 2009
TO: ALL BRANCHES WITH POSTAL MEMBERS & POSTAL DIVISIONAL REPS
For immediate circulation to all appropriate Area/Unit/Distribution Representatives
Dear Colleague
Area Distribution RTD - SA Pay Rates/Holiday Pay
Further to LTB 35/09 circulated to Branches and Representatives on 20th January 2009 reporting the action that had been taken to rectify the errors in the payments of the SA pay rates/holiday pay calculations for Area Distribution Drivers that had continued after December 2008.
At the time I was advised this would be corrected in early February 2009 but when I contacted the Business last week to confirm the actual date I was informed that the drivers pay problem had now highlighted further areas that needed to be addressed in relation to the payroll information. This has instigated a revamp of the whole spreadsheet that is currently being used and it is not expected that the revised document will be available for internal testing until March 2009.
Once the testing has been completed the aim will be to issue the new spreadsheet is introduced in the first week of the new financial year (April 2009). Assuming everything goes to plan a second traunch of arrears payments will then be calculated and made to ensure that drivers are compensated where they have not received the correct rate of £10.16 (for their first 8 hours of extra duty) during the period December 2008 until the end of March 2009.
I appreciate that drivers like myself will be unhappy that a further delay has now occurred in correcting these payments in line with the RTD Agreement but I am assured by the Business that every individual will receive the correct retrospective payments once this payroll exercise has been finalised.
All enquiries regarding the content of this LTB should be addressed to Martin Collins, Assistant Secretary Indoor Department, quoting reference number L16.04.
Yours sincerely
Martin Collins
Assistant Secretary
