Hours to be worked during xmas pressure??

Is there a clause in our contract stipulating that you have to complete your delivery during the xmas pressure period? A couple of fellow posties have said that you are not allowed to break off!! Is this correct? Any advice would be most grateful. Many thanks.

you can work your normal hours and give the rest to your dum dim to complete you are under no obligation to go over your hours if you don't wish to

although you will most probably put under pressure to complete(they are our customers)but for the rest of the year it is the bulk mail that is the customer.get your representative to go in with you and tell them you cant ,you dont have to give a reason.

I think the term used on your contract is you may be expected to do over time on some occasions,the law says you only have to work the hours you are contracted to work and must be paid for such hours,if your manager at anytime tells you to complete as it is expected of you then just say no,O/T is there if you want it is not a must do.

Thanks for all replies. Our hours are from 6-2 and i am willing to work till 3 every day if needed to complete but i cant work past then as i have my son to collect from school. At least now i have some ammo in case the manager tries it on!!
