As H & S Rep today i slapped in a letter to DOM about two dangerous dogs yesterday who sit behind the box waiting for ol postie to feed him some fingers. Hence letter going out to der brain owners and all covering posties can breathe easy.

And

A cuntstomer who has a shed outside the front door and a 240v mains cable feeding through the letter box to the said shed. Is it on or off? When it’s raining even worse as unsuspecting postie will at the very least get a perm or death. Manager said they cant stop post being delivered until they respond to a letter. I said well me ol muka. posties aint delivering from today.

Today, another two dogs at the door and scaffolding surrounding building with no warning signs. You have to duck to get to letterbox so they can Foxtro Oscar as well.
Another letter going in tomorrow. Oh dear will i be popular.

The DOM has done in I slapped a letter into the Dom to do it as shown in my original post. I dont write letters to customers not my job

Respect and well done brother, it isn't about being popular either, it is about you best representing the health and safety interests of your CWU work colleagues, and if that means submitting health and safety letter upon letter into your DOM then so be it.

You should however if you have not already done so, consider adding the following to the bottom of any submitted health and safety correspondence.

If the postman thinks it's unsafe then they should not deliver to the address full stop untill the unsafe practice is rectified!. It is the manager's responsbility to inform the customer to the unsafe practice and for the customer to rectify the unsafe practice!. For recommencement of delivery after the manager has approved it as safe if it is still unsafe DO NOT DELIVER THE MAIL AND ENDORCE IT TO THE FACT!.

Do you want to hear what my DOM says about that........'WILFUL DELAY' doesn't work on me but it does on some others.

Since the situations of which you speak are commonplace, (dogs, obstacles, slipping hazards, low letterboxes etc), and since those items should be highlighted in an up to date walk log, surely there are official letter templates and systems in place for dealing with those problems.

If the system highlights to me a danger, then by virtue of that it's my responsibility as an employee under the H&S at work act to not expose myself or others to it. In order for that to happen that same system must act on those dangers, not just list them in a log. Until that happens, you simply mark the mail delivery point inaccessible, after three days it should be killed off. It can not through that system be deemed willful delay

To me this is a massive failing of Royal Mail to uphold regulations which were put in place to protect us. Failure to comply with the Regulations can even result in imprisonment for the Company Directors/Managers.

All we need is for each and every employee to do their job properly, if they stand firm to ensure these failings are dealt with then our lives/jobs will improve as a result.

Update on the wire out the letterbox:

The DOM has sent a letter to the owner as the 240v Mains cable is now fraying with the weight and movement of the flaps. The postie who had a copy of my letter to the DOM expaining this, told me this morno they are still delivering to the address even thos I said we are talking hazard of death! I again advised they should not touvh the box at all unless a perm is required or a coffin!

Another letter to DOM going in tommorow about scaffolding that is 4 foot off the ground with no warning stickers/markers and a post box underneath. Theis means only quasimodo can deliver or a stupid postie.

Any DOM accusing my colleagues of willful delay for health and safty is treaidng on dodgy ground and they wont like it uppem I can tell you!
