anyone know if there is an agreed delivery standard between the cwu and royal mail. think i am to have a test soon to see if i am telling lies when i tell them i can't finish my delivery in time and am going to have to book ot . just want to check it out so that i know whats whats. thank people.

Ask the DOM for a grievance form and fill it, in front of him with Harrassment, Bullying and Intimidation in capital letters.....that will see him run and hide.

We are currently being prep tested on our frames to establish an average for the office as there doesn't appear to be a universally agreed figure. Our DOM says he hopes for 15 items per minute over the complete prep period (including redirections, tying up etc.) It is difficult to benchmark delivery periods with so many still starting early and using cars or overweight bags but my solution is to insist on the time I have booked or have the DOM walk the walk with me to prove my point.

We have just had a Pegasus revision that did NOT equalise the walks and cost us two. We were promised they would be reviewed and tweaked after a short experience period but this looks unlikely to happen, and anyone with an easy walk will not own up to it anyhow.

If they won't pay then don't play - you have contracted hours and if you are happy to exceed them to compensate for RM's poor organisation, then they should be delighted to pay you.

Managers are all under pressure to reduce costs but some are necessary to get the job done and they should be grateful that we still do it.

However - I have a feeling that the prospect of walking the streets after dark this winter will cause a few confrontations.

When out on a walk, make sure no short cuts are taken across gardens etc, no bag is overweight (even if this means dead walking back to replenish), only carry what you are comfortable with. The weight limits on bags are maximum weights not target weights. Dont walk while reading addressess, make full use of toilet stops, you are entitled to, close all gates carefully, looking out for sticking out nails etc, take extra care climbing steps, crossing road etc, you dont want to have an accident. Dont be afraid in speaking, passing the time of day with your customers. Walk at a pace which you can maintain for 3.5 hrs. Dont be pressured into rushing, as later in the delivery you will tire and slow down considerably.

What we need is full blown outdoor revisions back, why have CWU HQ giving up on them?

Something that could be taken to conference next year even if has no chance it means those at the top in the postal department and the PEC will have to put forward a argument either for or against outdoor revisions.

A full blown debate at conference on outdoor revisions giving the ever increasing march of pegasus would be a usefull thing to happen.

In the PE area 10 to 11 items a minute is the standard mangment will be satisfied with.

What you ned to do is translate the individual performance standards RM 2000 rate (25 items a minute, not expected to maintain 100% of the time either) into the RM prep test to arrivea ta suitable figure.

Given individual performance standards is a national aggrement local managers cant grumble about reaching aggrement on how the 25 items translates into a prep test figure.!!!!!!!

15 items in Rhinos area is only a 10 a minute reduction and given that 25 items is not for 100% of the time and the prep test includes redirections dead letters and redirections and packing your pouches hten that is not enough of a reduction from the 25 items a figure.

One of the problems in my delivery office is with non IPS duties walking around to the IPS frame umpteen dozen times which has the effect of lowering there prep rate. This happened thursday when one of rurals was tested, however the DOM said to me that in terms of how fast the mbr was actually getting the mail into the delivery frame once collected from IPS frames was up to standard.
