Re: Sick leave to annual leave
If you're intending to take your annual leave as annual leave and enjoy yourself then you should inform your manager as soon as possible that that is what you intend to do and be clear on when your last day of sick will be.
There is a push now for managers to be encouraging people to take annual leave as booked rather than allow sick to continue into it and allow a buildup that gets carried over and surplus needing to be squeezed in to the next leave year.
It is important to be aware that this is not compulsory, if you are genuinely sick when you were due to be on annual leave, you are sick, end of. The law does not allow this to be forced upon you but can be done only at your request or agreement

The employer can dictate when you take annual leave as a compulsory measure as long as advance notice is given by the employer. This will not be unreasonable if you have been on the sick and missed your original picked dates. The previous practice of carrying over leave into the next financial year has now all but stopped as it was being abused by management due to low staffing levels denying a statutory right saying leave slots were unavaliable,

True, an employer can dictate/allocate an employees annual leave. This is why we are not allowed any A/L in December and why a previous employer I had required us to use 2 weeks for the Xmas shut down.
However, Employers cannot force employees to take annual leave when they’re eligible for sick leave.

An employee can request or agree to take their annual leave instead of being on sick leave but they cannot forced to

Return to work should happen when you return to work.
If you're going straight on to A/L, you are still on leave just a different type of leave you haven't yet returned to work until your first day back in the office. That's the only logical time an RTW should happen.
