I've been signed off work since 13th June and have received a letter saying from the 18th September my pay will be reduced to 0. Is this correct and what is the new sick policy?
I had a physio appointment yesterday and he told me he still wouldn't advise me going back to work and I have stayed in contact with them the whole time as well as sending my doctors sign off slips.

If it’s your first absence this year you are entitled to 6 months full pay, then six months half pay.After 12 months it then changes to zero pay.

Sick pay is based on a 4 year rolling period, if you have had 12 months off in the last 4 years then you will be on zero pay

Is that right? So if I had 6 months off three years ago (for something work related like plantar fasciitis) and I get sick next week, will I get half pay? Does work related injury/stress still count towards the 12 months?

The payment of sick pay is subject to a rolling four year period. Any sick pay you have received in the previous four years is counted in the calculation of the monies paid. If you have exhausted the six months full pay you should have received notice of moving onto six months half pay. If you have exhausted the six months half pay you should then receive notification of moving to statuatory sick pay.

I quite stupidly thought the RM sick pay was covered by RM. HR told me, after receiving a rather bluntly worded letter, SSP is hidden in the RM sick pay. So you are using part of your annual SSP entitlement whilst on full or half pay. Kind of stands to reason that they'd be claiming your SSP portion back from the govt. As I said, stupidity on my part.
HR also said he was sick of dealing with these types of calls as it should have been explained by the DOM, who incidentally, said he didn't know about it either.
But it's nice that it's "hidden", not mentioned plainly on your payslip, otherwise you wouldn't get the surprise of the zero pay letter! It's like getting a kinder egg with a little turd in it.
Like I said, my bad for not going back and reading my contract or calling HR to check. In my defense though, I was too busy being ill.
