Hi, here is the Mount Pleasant bulletin of 19 April, comments welcome!
WE ALREADY KNOW IT'S NO
It was announced on Saturday that RM and CWU
"negotiators" had come to an agreement. The
Postal Exec were meant to be considering the offer
on Monday and Tuesday… after which there'll be a
national briefing (all reps are meant to go to
Bristol!!) this Friday. And then it's likely to be a
postal ballot on whether we agree with it or not.
But we already know that we don't.
NO TO SICK PROPOSALS...
It's highly unlikely it's going to be much different
from the previous offer which we already saw. We
know what they want to take off us, and we refuse
to give it.
For instance they wanted to cut occupational
sick pay, if we were sick for a second time in a
year! Yes, when full pay for sickness is a
necessity, full stop!
... AND NO TO FSWP!
So is Flexi-hours (in their jargon "Flexible Seasonal
Working Patterns") still going to be in this new
agreement? The bosses had proposed to change
the length of our shifts by 24 minutes a day, and
therefore cut, or add, 2 hours a week. And
whenever they want! We have no desire to be
pushed and pulled around (even more!) according
to their whims!
WHO DID THE MATHS ON THAT?
These deceitful b*****ds announced a "10%" pay
increase over three years, two weeks ago. These
were cuts in real wages which they were
proposing. For 2022 it would have meant -8%. For
2023 it would have meant -11%. Do they think
we're stupid? We were striking for a pay rise!
NO MORE JOB CUTS!
We're told by management on Processing that
their job cut targets haven't been reached, so they
want more of us out on VR! Some of our
workmates are already going next month... So
what about the "job done" target which they're
going to miss?
WE CAN'T AFFORD TO STAY
And we hear that the VR package is the same 9-
months max that's been on offer so far... It might
be crap, but when part-timers have lost up to 8
hours per week thanks to managers' bloody
realignment (or re-pick or whatever they call it
now), no wonder many want to go find a job
somewhere else!
SORTING THE SORTER
Last week, the Parcel Sorting Machine broke
again... we had to wait till Monday for it to be
sorted. This time, we were asked to tip manually.
So much for their "automation"... and job cuts! By
the way, this machine is overworked just like us,
no wonder it siezes up!
WE SEE IT COMING
DUMs are deluded. They think their W1 re-sign
will work. Even during the school holidays, when
usually the workload decreases a bit, we had lots
of failures. And now that deliveries are getting
heavier..?
SMELL THE COFFEE
Yes, these DUMs think they can manage a delivery
office as if it's a Starbucks coffee shop. They think
they don't need to know the streets, or anything
about our walks. They're only interested in
volumes. As the saying goes, there are none so
blind as those who will not see.
CLEVER DUMs
We've been told by DUMs that since other workers
will work the Saturday during the coronation, we
should as well... But these bright sparks don't
realise that streets will be closed and traffic will be
blocked. So we should go out, get stuck and come
back with full delivery bags? That's going to be a
record early finish...
COULDN'T MAKE THEMSELVES USEFUL
Management didn't think it was worthwhile letting
us drivers know that some roads were closed
around the Mount last week? Or even planning for
us the best way round? We know they haven't got
anything better to do… but maybe "planning" is a
bit much to expect from them.
MP'S DINING CLASS SYSTEM!
We all know about the problems with the canteen
here. Someone on the RoyalMailChat website got
hold of the canteen menu in 185… Here's a taster:
Hungarian babgulyas mushroom and bean
goulash as a vegetarian main; for meat eaters,
Bigos hunters stew, diced beef, spicy sausage and
chunky mushrooms with wholegrain rice, and
"accompaniment" sweetcorn or cauliflower or
broccoli. And subsidised down to about £5 a
meal! Guess we'll just pop round there next time.
ANNOUNCEMENT : ALL OF ROYAL MAIL'S EMPLOYMENT POLICIES (AGREEMENTS) AT A GLANCE (Updated 2021)... HERE

Re: 19/04/23 Mount Pleasant Bulletin
Just read the agreement, it's well and truly shafted us, everything that royal mail wanted, more work for us ,less indoor prep, longer delivery times, seasonal hours, Sunday working phased in in the future, less sick pay, if the union are recommending that we accept this insult of an offer then they can eff off, 12 months to get to this point ,Dave Ward etc need to resign absolutely useless.
