Good afternoon everyone:

It’s Pete Bracey for those of you who don’t know. I feel nows time to give you an update on my situation.
On the 28/11/22 I was sent home to cool off…..

I was eventually charged with gross misconduct for not treating a colleague with dignity & respect. At the time I was battling depression & the very day they sent me home was the anniversary of my fathers death. In addition I had lost my mother a year before during the pandemic.

Since going sick in the 29/11/22 I’ve had my sick pay withheld for 3 weeks despite a fit note being provided on the 1/12/22. I’ve had only two token text messages from my line manager despite therapists suggesting RM should be doing more.

My conduct case has many clerical errors. This added to my distress. I am still awaiting an invitation to a decision meeting.
In this last 5 months I’ve been totally disregarded and at time discriminated against. A prisoner in my own mind except for the amazing support from the CWU- thank you all.

I still sit in the wilderness awaiting my trumped up charges to dismiss yet another colleague.

I’m not at work but thought you should all know I’m fighting and ask you share this with members. For me they were all that mattered and without going into detail that was the reason I got wrongly treated, because I put members before anyone.

Keep going and stick together. Never known a dispute like it in the 25 years I’ve been at RM but I’ve also never known solidarity like it!

Anyone who loses both parents in such a short space of time will most likely be feeling all kinds of emotions. Mental health comes into play and decision making can often be excused.
Regarding his case, I have no idea what he did/said that was supposedly lacking in dignity and respect.
If it was someone going to work on a strike day and he said or did something then you need to also ask if that persons emotions should be considered.

Personally, people can say what they want to me, but I know of one postie who went to work on strike days and got all kinds of abuse and now totally ignored. Reason for him was that he couldn’t afford to not get paid and pay for his mothers care home package without selling her house which she had pleaded to him not to do.
But nobody cared. Nobody cared about his stresses or struggles or mental health. There are more important things than ‘members’ and the ‘union’.

So I hope Pete gets all the support he needs. I hope he gets a fair hearing. But there’s a story to every face.

consequences with a persons Mental Health. It is so common in a unionised industry but the perpetrators fail to see those consequences as tied up in their own self importance.

Saying they should get a thicker skin shows that contempt one worker has for a fellow worker, but it is only Banter?
