Reality Check
Whats Going On,
everyone here seems to have the opinion, well those topics that i read anyway that we should stand firm and F*** the business they wont break us mentality when we really don't know what the hell is going on.
For me Royal Mail is about putting food on the table for my family, paying the Bills and having a modicum of a decent life.
Given the profession i chose i was never going to be driving around in a Lamborghini but i was always comfortable and have had a good run.
I've been in the business over 40 years and have seen my fair share of change and have witnessed more than my fair share of lazy bstards, power hungry reps, and useless managers but ive also seen hard working people doing the best job they can and helping locally to make their offices run better without the ridiculous politics that seen to embattled every change this company does.
we are not a civil service anymore and to go back to that puts a strain on the wider tax payer to support people that just want to do nothing... 4 day weeks where some people finish 2 hours early v 5 day week where people have little to no spare time. madness
reps screaming abuse at people bullies screaming at everyone managers doing nothing to stop it all things that go on daily making the offices toxic environments. it saddens me to see the business like this.
is administration coming? probably when negotiations are centred and led by reinstate the reps that stepped out of line or we wont talk , stuff the members families we have to look after our reps first, look after us first fight for you pals later, give us the option to see whats on offer and give us the opportunity to choose what we want to do... I cant strike again if the priorities of the CWU are not made clear... i know what the business are offering they keep telling me over and over but what are our proposals what will we concede to get over the line ?
if they do go into administration its over!!! fire and if we are luck rehire or far worse if we are not lucky, you cant force a business back into being because you think your right. The needs of the Many out way the needs of the few and the needs of the many need to be the driver for this.
no business no jobs or pay or terms and conditions for anyone.
our unions job is to get the best deal possible from the options available not destroy the company thats the message we should all send to our CWU Negotiators. save Royal mail ... because the Board will Kill it if we dont.

Re: Reality Check
Don't blame the union for this debacle it's Thompson and his greedy cohorts who had this intention all along ,as someone who's tried to reason with management the last year especially it's been impossible to get through there thick skulls what's happening and here we are, they've moved the goalposts so many time they very clearly don't want a deal themselves, so is administration there final goal and not ours!!

Don't blame the union ,the fault lies squarely with the management.
Blame the greedy power hungry bastards that put us in this position and it wasn't the union.
Got a funny feeling your on monthly wages as well as a few others in here
Remember if we go into admin
you lot with the monthly wages will be seeing the dole qué first

Re: Reality Check
I find it odd that some seem not to care about the suspended/sacked reps. I like most dont know why they've been sacked but if it's for something and nothing then they can get rid of us dead easy too, think on

Re: Reality Check
Indeed, the company seem hell-bent on ridding themselves of the Union.
I think you'll find when you look back that it is just a political battle you and I are mixed up in.
That is why there is no agreement.
They seem to be happy to go into administration because they are totally blinkered.
That's why the workers are saying let it burn.
Because they won't deal with us, they won't negotiate with our Union.
They want to break it.
Let it burn!!!

Had some of these folk posting this nonsense been the ones suspended for the same reasons, they’d be battering down the doors of office rep’s looking for the same justice the suspended members should receive.

In my time with Royal mail, the amount of work and time union reps, have given to help others, should we not be thinking of them and trying to help them

Re: Reality Check
It would be good to see a list of what they've allegedly done to get suspended, without those details I haven't a clue if they should be supported or not? Personally I can't see how any company can risk dismissing a member of staff w/o good reason given Employment Tribunals tend to find in the employees favour.
