Under the P&M agreement i understand that staff can be asked to work at other offices. Question is, how do they decide what member of staff goes, eg, is only part-time staff or non duty holders asked?
Or can they ask a duty holder to go as well? im sure the answer may well be yes, but how do they pick? I in my head would only be happy to go to prob 1 other office near to where my boyfriend lives as it would be ok for me to get there at 5.30or 6am in the morning!
Can they make us travel miles from our home if we dont want to? or do we agree with them an office that we would be happy to help out if they are stuck or own office over staffed? Reason i ask as it has happened at my place already with 1 30 hour man.

You arrive at YOUR do at your starting time. They will then transport you to the problem do. After work they should transport you back so that you finish on time. Obviously they will ask you to use your own transport, to work past your time & to get back home yourself. You can say NO and stick to it. Make sure you have got a plan from your DOM on this.

• Working in nearby offices is now subject to local agreement with the Union. There are many offices around the country who have successfully concluded agreements that deal with this situation. This includes the ability to utilise reserves and volunteers. Working in nearby offices will be the exception rather than the norm and should only apply where there are surplus staff or genuine operational needs.
• Working in nearby offices – Areas will identify and agree with the CWU locally a approach (which could include the use of volunteers and reserves) to working in nearby offices within employees’ contracted hours which will include travel times and appropriate travel and subsistence arrangements.

only p.time postpeople been moved at our place (up to now) i as a full timer would make it so difficult for them to move me they would be wasting their time and effort!!!

From what i understand,if you are a duty holder then the chances are you wont go.
Reserves are the most likely to move,but only if you have surplus staff.AND if they are trained to do to job they are going to.

And when they go to another office a MAP and a copy of the WALKLOG must be provided if not REFUSE TO DO THE WALK it is a HEALTH AND SAFETY ISSUE!.
I have helped out in other offices and it's not that bad i got paid from i left HOME till i got back plus travelling expenses, it was a nice change plus you're the new boy don't know the route or the area can't be expected to do it all. I actually went out with local p[opstman and we split the walk. By the way i'm reserve and i think it's only reserves that go i.e. the surpluss staff, the fodder.

If you really look at your contract of employment then RM can pretty much make you jump through hoops whilst on fire and being chased by Michael Barrymore but the agreement is (at least in my office) that working in other offices is on a volunteer basis. It doesn't really matter because my office is so understaffed at the moment they can't afford anyone out of the office to go elsewhere.
