how can you go from a stage 1 to stage 2 in a week? to get to a 2 from a 1 its 10 days or 2 seperate absences. unless you had 2 seperate absences in a week? but even then it would probs take them a week or two from it being triggered to issue it.

With heart problems go sick and stay Sick until you are better. You're probably coming back to soon so incurred extra sick periods. Don't be bullied into coming back if that's the case

Re: Heart problems, stage 1, 2 etc
I was in hospital Thursday, Friday out Saturday, back at work on Monday!
To be fair I get restless and bored at home, I wasn't getting bullied, I just feel knackered at the moment.

If you are absent and staged for heart problems, and it does get to a stage 3, then any rep worth their salt would get it overturned.

So you were on a stage 1, then went into hospital for 3 days then back to work?....that's 1 absence of 3 days. That would not trigger a stage 2.

Re: Heart problems, stage 1, 2 etc
Sorry I didn't make myself clear, I had a stage 1 review, which was confirmed Thursday am, I was in hospital Thursday night through to Saturday, which was confirmed as triggering the 1st part of stage 2 when I went back on Monday!

Re: Heart problems, stage 1, 2 etc
Then you went into hospital Thursday evening till Saturday, and returned on Mon. Thats 1 absence of 3 days you've had since being put on the stage 1 on Thusday. ...you have NOT triggered a stage 2 in that case. A stage 2 is triggered if you have TWO seperate absences or 1 absence of 10 days or more. Your hospital admittance of 3 days is classed as ONE absence

Reading the first post again I believe he says he hasn't triggered a stage 2 but would if he had another absence.
Is the heart condition likely to be covered under the Equality Act? Is it likely to last more than 12 months? Is it having an effect on your day to day living?
Absences considered a disability under the Equality Act should normally be discounted from the attendance procedure.

That's brilliant thank you, I've been really stressed this week, I shall use my down time today to read up on the disability act!
