Cynic that I am, but what normally happens is the letters for the new builds (normally TV licence reminders to begin with forcomeracing wrote: ↑15 Sep 2022, 18:42............obviously im not going to deliver to all of these when there built...........
properties that don't actually exist) start turning up in your sequenced, you ask you COM what to do with them, they just say 'Oh, there's not many
yet, just deliver and we'll look at it when they're all built and occupied in the next revision' and nothing ever happens unless you kick off
massively and start 'cutting off'.

Re: New builds question.
We have loads of new builds going up round us
Close to the depot? Everyone takes a loop on the way past
On your walk? Deal with it until the revision which will definitely happen and in no way just make walks longer if it does
They get argued about, and people cut off or refuse to do them and management shrug and say "it's your job"

There's loads in our office. There's nothing you can really do, just either cut off and leave the development or part of your walk if that's what management want or negotiate and get paid to do it. I'm covering a fairly cushy rural currently that gets an hour to do a development but the duty is that easy you can complete it in time anyway.

Re: New builds question.
Over 500 new addresses added to ours. Ok they are in blocks but any of them can get packets that won't go in the mail boxes so we have to go up. And when we get 4 or 5 D2D..... No extra time or help, nothing! 'Just crack on with it'
"Just take it out and see how you go......."

Re: New builds question.
If they end up on the wrong walk, there's nothing that we can do in the MC. The sort plans for the machines get written at some central office (I'm guessing in Sheffield)yellowbelly wrote: ↑15 Sep 2022, 18:55Cynic that I am, but what normally happens is the letters for the new builds (normally TV licence reminders to begin with forcomeracing wrote: ↑15 Sep 2022, 18:42............obviously im not going to deliver to all of these when there built...........

Re: New builds question.
Is the new build a through road? If it isn't my guess is they'll just dump it on whatever walk covers where the entrance to the new build is located

Re: New builds question.
There's a process that should be followed with new development at the weekly resource meeting.
Talk to your rep.
It shouldn't be dumped on any duty.

Re: New builds question.
If they’re not on the frame you should do what you want with them. Charge extra or hand them back. This is not the official line just what I would do. Also a part time duty with just 160 new builds sounds like a great deal, mine’s got more delivery points than most of the full time walks.

Re: New builds question.
In my office, as soon as a new build starts receiving mail it is handed to the manager for him to deal with. If you start taking it they’ll expect you to take it every day. Don’t fall for “it’s only x amount of calls” you find that new builds get loads of packets, signed for, specials etc. let the manager either pass it on to someone who’s finishing early everyday or pay someone overtime for taking it.

Yes they get loads of parcels because Amazon the great and powerful won't deliver their own stuff to them, all gets fobbed off to us.
