Agree. If it's a national day of mourning, ie public holiday, then stand pickets etc down. Should not be cancelled otherwise.

Following the very sad news of the passing of the Queen and out of respect for her service to the country and her family, the union has decided to call off tomorrows planned strike action.

A) it's really short notice
B) how do we get this officially if not on social media?
C) some people have already had tomorrow deducted from wage slips, do they go in?
D) how is it disrespectful to strike?

I’m sure managers calling workers who don’t show up tomorrow will be given short shrift. Agree that pickets should be stood down.

It’s the right decision, it’s not a great look us being on strike after todays news.

Logistically not sure how it’s going to work though, are the night shift expected to turn up tonight, are they still out till 4am. Are managers going to let everyone know, they probably don’t know themselves yet.

I respect the passing of the queen, but don't respect the way Royal mail are treating the workforce right now.

This is really short notice, and this will be a massive headache for everyone tomorrow.

In my opinion we’d have been better cancelling the pickets and making it known to media outlets, social media etc we were standing down from picketing tomorrow. Then follow up with an arty farty statement about reaffirming our commitment to putting things behind us and making a special effort to come to a fair agreement with RM as a way of honouring the legacy of HRH.

Win win, and improves the unions popularity while respecting people at this time of day don’t have childcare arranged for tomorrow, some don’t have social media so won’t be aware of the change, and perhaps most importantly some have ridiculously already had money deducted by idiotic managers.
