How will my A/L pay or average holiday pay be affected by strike action?

Post by sardonicus »

Hi

Long boring question alert!!

I'm on a/l end of august for 2 weeks, 3 out of the 4 strike dates occur on my a/l, 1 strike day in the first week of a/l ( not a duty day), and on second week 2 days are duty days im on a 3 day float.

I'm assuming my first weeks a/l pay will be unaffected as its for pay from previous week, my second week of a/l will be unaffected as the strike day in the first week of a/l is a non duty day

And so the week when I return from a/l, I will get pay from second a/l week which will be one day as other 2 are strike days?

OR

is my pay unaffected as a/l is earned and accumulated and so it's unaffected?

Can't get me head around this lol DOH!

Also is average holiday affected as I'm told its now automatically paid, I usually do 3 days my duty and 3 days ot per week every week
Can't get me head round this one either DOH!

Sorry if confusing, you still there ? :chuckle

Average pay will only be affected if you do less than 8 hrs overtime in each qualifying month.

If you're on annual leave for 3 of the 4 dates then you're not affected (as far as I'm aware) so any holiday pay due shouldn't be affected
as it's based on the previous six periods (roughly months) qualifying ie 8 hours each period. As you can't be at work and
on leave at the same time (although some people do) similarly you also can't be on strike and on leave at the same time! You're simply
on leave!

Edit: Woody beat me to it...

Who cares losing a couple of hundred pounds over months
when you could lose more over years if si and co get their way
