Which means RM pay less.

So the 2% pay increase basically costs them nothing.

The amount that can be earned before we start to pay NIC's is going up from 6th July.

It's currently £190 per week and it's going up to £242 per week.

It'll mean we'll pay less NIC's from then on, but it's not back dated!

No you don't get it back as back pay but the celling has raised from £9500 to £12500 so you will have less taken out of your wage the less you earn the more you will get in net pay!

To be exact the threshold for paying NIC's will actually be increasing from £9,880 to £12,570, and will be the same as for income tax.

It annoys me that the media and politicians always quote an annual figure for the allowance. NI is calculated on a weekly or monthly basis depending on how you are paid. I work for Angard and only grossed £8000 last year but still paid £300 in national insurance due to the bulk of that income being earned around the Christmas period. If you have a good week you can go over the weekly threshold but unlike income tax when you have subsequent weeks below the threshold you don't get a rebate.

As Royal Mail pay weekly your increased allowance will be £242 per week not £12570 per annum.

The new rates are here to stay until the government decides to change them again.

Would have been nice if they had delayed our “lump sum” payment by another week so we could all have paid a bit less in NICs… Every penny counts, especially these days.

What lump sum payment?? Or you refering to the derisory 2% pay increase..which is only an advance payment.
