Learning post codes

Post by Selhurst »

Is there a website that can be viewed that RM use to view postcodes and streets and streets within those postcode’s?
Baffles me how the sorting is done so so quickly without looking at the sheets above. I know this takes time to lean but would be nice to get ahead of the game.

Learning postcodes would be virtually impossible, at least it would be harder than just learning which duty does what streets (or part of)
It is all about repetition. The more you do it the more you learn.
The first couple of weeks you are slow and you get a stiff neck, after that you begin to get into the groove.
Actually doing different deliveries also helps - when I was on duty 1 we delivered Acacia Avenue etc. When I covered duty 3 we did the top end of the High Street etc.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Some people pick up quickly others don't (can take decades).

Also RM looking after a lot of the new starters doesn't help.

New starters being bounced around sections doesn't help either, we have 4 sections (with a potential 5th and 6th incoming in the next 18 months) and the one I'm on the most is the one I'm best at IPS on. Some sections I'm basically used to clear the absorption routes when they get backed up after 4 days of the same streets being brought back, so I am impossibly slow at IPS...

They still put me on it though, because I don't scream and shout if I'm asked

It's not the way to learn IPS, but all the post codes and roads are in the RM app. I use it when I'm on a rural duty and get mis-sorted letters and packets and no one else close to me knows where it should be
