I'm currently a postman and I'm considering applying for a job at Parcelforce for a delivery driver. Just have a few questions:
What are the average hours you do per week?
What time do you normally finish your shift?
Also the job advertised is a 6 month contract, do you think the chances are fairly good of it becoming permanent?
Any general tips or advice on the job would be appreciated.

Re: Working for Parcelforce?
I am a Parcelforce night worker, ex driver. It depends on what you are looking for, being a driver for Parcelforce is different than Royal Mail, the hours are usually 10 hour shifts mainly 0730hrs to 1730hrs with 40 min break although some routes do differ and can be as low 8hrs or high as 12hrs.
As well as deliveries you will be expected to make collections. Other than that it is a reasonable but not easy job for experienced multi drop drivers. If you are new to this type of delivery you would be given time and training to reach the standard expected. Pay is monthly so you must bare this in mind when making your decision. All driving positions are permanent when you have completed a certain criteria which could take 3 to 6 months.

Hope that helps and good luckamhopkins1 wrote: ↑30 May 2022, 18:31I'm currently a postman and I'm considering applying for a job at Parcelforce for a delivery driver. Just have a few questions:
What are the average hours you do per week? 50 (10x5)
What time do you normally finish your shift? 1700 (my shift is 724/1700)
Also the job advertised is a 6 month contract, do you think the chances are fairly good of it becoming permanent? Yes very good
Any general tips or advice on the job would be appreciated. I’m leaving because the job is not what it used to be and has become far too stressful. There are in my opinion much better delivery jobs out there for similar pay and less stress.

If you are looking for a less stressful job...then i wouldn't bother...you pay your own driving fines..you have timed deliveries ,,your route is controlled by your hand held device..and you cannot deviate from it,,,you may end up in the same street more than once,,don't jump from the firepan into the fire.
good luck
good luck

Re: Working for Parcelforce?
The basic hours are generally 7am till 2.48pm. You'll start as a spare driver clearing up route drivers crap and you should be doing around 80 stops. If you want, you can work 11 hours a day, it's up to you. As a route driver you'll be covering the hours of that said route. So it could be 9,10 or 11.
Chap above said you gotta follow the system. You can also "draw a line" so that you can choose where to start and where you'll finish and everything in-between.
Lunch is 40 mins if you're lucky enough to get one and that is factured into your day.
Boxes can be heavy.. up to 30KG.
vans in most depots are 9 years old and falling to bits with dents all over.
