Advice please

Post by TravelPostie »

Hi,

Last month I requested just two days off for March. 24th, 25th.

They got approved.

However, I went on to the people app to check my annual leave and they gave me the 26th off (Saturday and all next week)

I spoke to my manager and he said “you must’ve had leave to be taken)

Fast forward, on the 24th he phoned me twice, left a voicemail and sent a message to get in touch. I didn’t as I’m on leave. On the 25th he sent a message saying he’s got me down for Saturday to work. I told him I’m away now as my annual leave was green and approved. I even told him I spoke to him a few weeks ago explaining this.

I told him I won’t be in and he said he will speak about this on my return.

Tbh I don’t feel like going back cos this isn’t the first time management have pissed me off. What rights do I have, can I bring someone into the meeting with me as a witness? I’m not in the Union but I’ve read I can bring a colleague in with me.

RM cant discipline me cos it’s their fault for approving the leave.

Thanks!

If it's approved then f all they can do about it.
You've got proof on the app,but yeah take someone on as a witness because sounds like manager is trying it on.

Screenshot your leave on the app-this is your proof….end of.
Makes no difference what the management says.

If its not the first time management have messed you around then you arent doing yourself any favours not being in the union
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Agree with the other comments on the thread, but just to be sure, your 'however' statement concerns
me - when you say that your leave for 24/25 was 'approved' does this show on the app as well?
If not how was the approval presented to you?

Yes the dates have been approved and are green on the app

You're all ok then, typical management - left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. Enjoy your leave!! :thumbup :thumbup

You are allowed to be accompanied by a colleague if you choose. However I would advice you to join the Union and be accompanied by your Local Union Rep.

A lot of people moan about the Union on here but most of us consider it a "Safety Net" just in case we get into real trouble with the Management. Admitedly a lot of more experienced Posties feel confident and able, perhaps with the support of agreements publised on this site, to fight their own corner. TBH the fees are minimal compared to a lot of things people spend their money on. :cuppa
