The PDAs were updated today with MDM.
This is Mobile Device Management and gives remote access from a computer to all assets of the PDA. Not just the microphone but the cameras too, front and rear.
No notice was given of this update.
I believe this should be investigated as a matter of urgency before someone's privacy is compromised.

We have raised this with our technical team and the device manufacturer to understand why this notification is appearing.
They have confirmed that the mobile device management software doesn’t use the microphone and the notification message around using the microphone shouldn’t be displayed.
Investigations are being conducted as to why this notification is appearing and to understand a fix for this issue. The device manufacturer and software supplier have provided a statement confirming that the microphone is not used as part of the MDM solution (please see attached document).
