PDA in the rain

Post by Selhurst »

Are the PDA team any nearer to correcting the inability to use the screen in the rain?
I’m fed up with PDA’s screen not responding. This adding to an already long soaking wet day. Bringing small amount of mail back, booking excess, and having to explain both counts. Do I want to stay out in driving rain? NO NO NO :mad
Please PDA team sort it out

It's a touchscreen. They don't work if they get soaked. It will be the same with your phone. If you want it to carry on working stick it in a little zip lock bag or something.

They work slightly better if you remove the screen protector but they're still s**t.

All touch screens no matter what device or manufacturer will have problems with the rain

They would have been better using a Resistive touch screen as it's less likely to register rain drops as touches compared to a Capacitive screen but it's a bit late now. Zero thought put into the procurement of these PDAs as is the Royal Mail way.

You'll probably find that just about in any industry where PDAs are used, a firm is probably using the same ones

No my phone works just fine at the same time that it's impossible to unlock the PDA

Dunno what to tell you. PDA works fine for me. I keep it in my pocket while walking around, then I'm waiting at a door I face the screen towards the ground so it doesn't get wet. Just have to be a bit careful with it.
