Post box on fence post
A farm was sold recently and the previous owner kept a field and stuck a post box on the fence post and is still using the farm address. The new owners of the farm are not happy that their address is being used by the previous owner. I am delivering all the mail to the farm-as addressed but the DOM says I am wrongly delivering it. Should I be separating the mail and using the post box or should there be a new delivery address created? Can someone please give me something official to argue with the DOM.

Deliver as addressed, if it says the farm put it in the farm. The new call needs to be registered with Royal Mail, so the Postcode Address File (PAF) database can be updated, and then validated.

Thank you. Is there a document I can download to refer to when the DOM confronts me. Apparently the owner of the field complained today that their mail was being delivered to the wrong address so I presume I will be in trouble tomorrow.

It's a bit fraudie as well if it carries on.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

RTS? If a customer says the addressee no longer lives there that's the normal practice.

If it's addressed to the farm and the new owner doesn't want/refuses it then rts, surely the previous owner can get a redirection like lots of other people do when they move house.

Similar situation, we have one of these - cottage and a small field (size of a basketball court) were owned by same person,
sold and moved out of cottage but kept the field, put a postbox on the fence to the field for his mail! Initially stopped delivering
it and he complained to manager on the basis that he had a small shed in the field that has a water/leccy supply and
if it was a house that had got split into two flats the mail would still get delivered through the door mailbox
or to the two mailboxes on the outside wall! even though I pointed out to manager that the properties would (should) then
be addressed to 1A and 1B not the same address! Manager caved in!

Your DOM sounds like an idiot, or he/she/whatever is friends with the farmer and is bending the rules.
