I'm former employee.

Post by ctpunk »

I worked for Parcelforce since 2008 untill 2017. Left due to familly circustances (had to go abroad for couple of months). I did 7,5 tonner bulk deliveries and collections. Nowadays due to a driver shortage pay rates went up to the level that RM is far behind- while when I use to work for RM my colegues use to say "money is good but the job is s**t" at this easygoing workplace.

Nowadays I consider coming back to RM. There is a class 2 vacancy for Royal Mail in my area and have some questions:
1. Advertised wage for class 2 driver is 32098 a year- is this basic or does it include all additions to pay? What is a weekly/ monthly gross based on 40 houres a week including additions to pay and bonuses?
2. Do I still have my "seniority" in order to apply for routes or internal vacancies?
3. Does it changed a lot from 2017 and after privatisation? Is there still familly athmosphere place to work, focused on service and costumers... or more target to make profit to shareholders?
4. Any toughts ?

I will apply, but I'm happy to hear from you if it's ok to quit my current class 2 work and join RM again.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
