I'm on a walk next week with lots of stairs so will be interesting to see how much more I burn with them under my feet! no wonder I am always hungry after starting this job.

How many calories are we all burning during a shift?
I've recently started tracking my calorie burn at work with a new fitness watch thing. I'm averaging around 1800 cals burned at the end of a shift

When I first started I was starving all the time, craving sugary fatty crap, and lost loads of weight.
Your body adjusts, and you'll soon be podgy, creaking and permanently knackered.
"Your job must keep you fit?" say punters. Lol!

Make sure you aren't including any time moving between points in a van, 1800 Calories sounds far too much!

It has come to my attention over the past few years that far too many people take their technology far too seriously.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Just looking at the health app that came pre installed on my phone it seems to average at about 100 calories per mile.

They aren't very accurate but it is interesting to see what sort of figures it comes up with. I eat about 3300 calories a day to fuel work and my running in the evening and that maintains my weight almost perfectly

I think I burn 1000 calories a day at work.
I would say 100 calories a mile sounds right.
I don't walk 10 miles, but I do have 54 flights to go up.

Re: How many calories are we all burning during a shift?
On an average day, I get in upwards of 27k in steps. About 13 miles. Calories for the day at around 4250. Taking into account I'd burn 1200 if I stayed in bed for 24 hours and any extras, I easily burn over 2K. I do think our rounds are huge though, often out till gone 4.
If I burnt as much as I do while I was in an office, eating healthily and going to the gym I'd be ripped. But while you are out it is easier to eat rubbish. Something I need to get sorted.
Has anyone increased protein intake to help with muscle recovery?
