Hi
My notice Period is one Month (Weekly Paid).
i want to try and leave earlier (say 2 weeks notice) does anybody know if this is possible?

I always thought that weekly paid staff members had to give one weeks notice, but think this may have changed for newer entrants to 4 weeks.
Maybe speak with your DOM, explain situation and he would be able to allow you to leave earlier. Speak to your rep aswell.

Exactly, they would rather have you off the payroll than sitting at home (or working elsewhere) claiming to be sick.
References are no longer personal and come from HR anyway so it's not as if your manager can take revenge.

Depends if you ever want to come back. We have had good postmen leave in the past and not work their full notice before realising they have made a mistake. When trying to get back in their applications have been rejected because the not working the full notice was a black Mark on their HR record.
