Billionaire investor known as the 'Czech sphinx' nets £450m paper profit from Royal Mail shares surge as it closes in on FTSE 100 return

Paywall but easy to get round, if you remember (it's all in this forum) he regulary bought up tons of of our shares.

Royal Mail is poised for a red-letter day with a return to London’s blue-chip index this week.
The company’s share price has almost trebled over the last year as it was boosted by a surge in demand for parcels during lockdowns – proving
a shrewd investment for billionaire investor Daniel Kretinsky, who has a 15.6pc stake.
Known as the “Czech sphinx” because of his inscrutable nature, Mr Kretinsky is now Royal Mail’s biggest shareholder. The rise in Royal Mail shares over the past 12 months has netted his company an estimated £450m paper profit – equivalent to £1.2m a day – as well as benefiting many thousands of retail investors who bought stock when the company was privatised in 2014.

Led by chairman Keith William and former Ocado executive Simon Thompson, Royal Mail has capitalised on the parcel boom as well as striking a crucial deal over automation with its highly unionised workforce.
Relations with its main trade union, the CWU, are sufficiently positive that deputy general secretary Terry Pullinger has even answered questions from City analysts.
Royal Mail faces competition from ITV as the favourite to return to the FTSE 100 when quarterly reshuffle details are announced. The broadcaster has been buoyed by a favourable performance by its studios business.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
