Need advice on stages

Post by madelin4 »

Need some sound advice folks, if one has been of sick and returns on a re-hab where they will be on a stage 2, if that person was to either not cope with re-hab or go sick again is that an automatic stage 3 dismissal? or is it an IHR case? Considering the illness is on-going problem, but not under the DDA act.

Have you been on rehab for the same ailment and have you had a stage issued for that ailment and have you already had stage 2 issued. Have you had the rehab procedure explained and been given an indication of what is considered to be your current capability under the rehab?

I had to give a date to go back even tho i told them i was not ready to go back, i am meant to be going back on a 6 week re-hab , to be agreed yet exact hours etc, but i have been told if i go back and cant cope with the rehab then its auto stage 3=dismissal. Told this by another employee who is off with stress caused by them also.

I am on a 1 at the moment, but when i go back if i get back in 2 weeks time they will be due to issue me a stage 2.

A co-worker has had his wages stopped and sick line from doctor refused by royal mail. Its a mess the whole thing!

oh, re hab not been explained to me yet.

TBH Madelin if you don't feel ready to go back then you must tell them and back it up with a letter from your Dr. There does seem to be a lot of shall I say haste to get people back to work though I draw the line at calling it bullying. Regardless of what they may say only you know whether you are ready to get back to work. Reading between the lines I suspect that you truly aren't ready. If you decide to go back please take your unit rep into a meeting with your DOM/LM on an "informal" basis setting out what you believe to be your present capability, what hours you feel comfortable with and the scope of the duty you will be able to perform. There is no appeal against a 1st or 2nd stage and in my experience there hasn't been a lot of luck lately on 3rd stage appeals.

Good luck!
