Shares when leaving RM

Post by wacko74 »

Having recently left the business I've received the letter outlining my options for my shares.

I already hold a number of RMG which I've bought independently in a different share dealing account (X-O)

As I don't want to sell my current free and P&M shares can I get them transferred directly into my X-O account (after paying any tax and NI owing on them) or do I have to first transfer them into Equiniti then transfer them out into my X-O account?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

It should give you the options on the letter surely? Whatever you do, make sure you have a checkbook to cover any costs such as tax & NI. A friend went through the process recently, although they transferred into the CSN and decided to pay tax & NI on the taxable free shares from SIP.

Unfortunately I think you lose any matching free shares from the partnership & matching scheme if held less than three years.

@Postman yes, I've really not enjoyed the job for quite a while now, waking up at 2 a.m. and not able to get back to sleep, not even able to relax and switch off when I have a week off and just counting down the days to having to go back in.

There's just so much more mither and hassle associated with the job now, sick of all the bullshit.. trimble monitoring you, PDA monitoring you, getting pulled up for any and every open clock despite the huge increase in items requiring scanning and the constant unreliability and propensity for crashing of our PDA's, also recently had a very minor no fault bump but still had to spend an hour on the phone to RM insurance and 3 hours in the office filling in reports in triplicate with the DOM.

All this hassle for a job where the take home pay is little more than £1 over national minimum wage.

I've asked numerous times to reduce my hours/days but due to RM's inflexibility and constant policy of running offices on a less than skeleton staff my requests have always been ignored.

Anyway, rant over! As for the shares I think I've sussed out the options, I can get them to send me a share certificate (after they've sold sufficient shares to cover my tax and NI liability) and then I can send that certificate on to my broker, bit of a convoluted way of doing it rather than just being able to transfer them direct but that seems like the only way.

Be aware your broker may charge you to transfer in via certified form as opposed to digitally.

Thanks yes, they charge £5.95 (X-O) so cheaper than transferring them in and out of Equiniti.
