It should be included in your PILON.

It certainly looks like you've paid too much tax.
With a bit of luck you won't have to wait too long to get it back.

morning ,just another quick one, i have paid tax and NI on my P.I.L.O.N payment ,but only one week of that is in this financial year ,should the other 11 weeks carried forward to the next financial year when my income will be well below the threshold be taxable, plus a small lump sum from my pension which i will signed for next week i was told that 75% of this was taxable, but if im well below the £12,500 allowance (NEXT FINANCIAL YEAR ) ,is this correct thanks

As far as I'm aware you will pay tax in the financial year you receive the money, so if you got it in 20/21, it sounds as if you'll probably pay more tax than if you get it in 21/22. Although it will obviously depend on specific amounts.

If your total income for a financial year is below the Personal Tax Allowance, then any tax paid on your pension or any other income, should be refunded.

The PTA is currently £12,500 but is going up to £12,570 from 6th April.

Without knowing exact amounts, it sounds as if you will still pay tax on the PILON, although the amount you've paid seems a bit high to me.

If you get the pension money in 21/22 and your income is below £12,570, then you shouldn't pay tax on it. Or if you do pay tax initially, you should be entitled to a refund.

These things tend to right themselves over time, but my advice would be to contact HMRC and tell them your situation. Make sure the tax is correct as soon as possible.

You need to ring HMRC - only they will be able to give accurate info.

Tax comes back in wages or benefits. If the mistake happens across the beginning of April this can delay it. It won't always do this whcih is why you need to ring and ask - they won't bite!

You need to keep your wage slips.
