Re: One day to go then...
i dont think there should be any issues taken out of the frame.Talks have been substantial. A line in the sand needs to be drawn (a proper one) right in christmas pressure, and if there is no resolution we start the strikes rolling. As i said, we hold the cards in the run up to christmas, but must have the bottle to play them even if it is unpalatable.

Totally agree.steven100 wrote:I wouldn't trust rm management one bit, it's clear they have a strategy. My money is on RM going to court to prevent strikes at Xmas. And winning in court.

My personal opinion is "if you are in conflict with your employer and it is likely to end up in Industrial Action, choose your time carefully and hit them when it matters most to make the biggest impact and to show you are serious" .... if there is no stomach for that then you are on a looooooser anyway........... old school me ..Edward Hunter wrote:Personally cant believe RM will want a strike as christmas looms, so in many respects delaying things plays into our favour. BUT asking members to go out is hard because of all the extra expense at that time of year. Personally think this dispute is massive. Do or die. Give them another week or 2 to sort it and if there is no deal let the strikes roll. The public would hate us but the pressure on those at the top would be immense. Its time to be strong for our futures. Lets back the union one last time and if a strike at christmas has to happen. So be it.

Much as I appreciate the information that we receive from Dingo, it does appear that he is trying to fight fires on both sides of the argument, and some of the information coming out contradicts previous information. I am sure that I read somewhere that Moya Greene was in on these talks, and now it seems not even her underling is present.
In respect of the disagreement, the membership gave an unequivocal mandate to the CWU leadership that they were prepared for industrial action including strike action. The Leadership new full well that at that stage, the impetus must be on using the mandate to strengthen it,s negotiating position in the lead up to and during the Christmas Pressure period. The strike on 4th November would have provided a stimulus to concentrate the minds of management and started to show them how quickly the system could be snarled up at this time of year. We were then told that we were very close to a deal and that a delay of two weeks would allow the negotiations to be concluded. If this was not the case a strike would be called for 20th November. We have lost 16 days impetus and still no sign of a deal, and now Dingo is already trying to smooth over the cracks of what is likely to be another deferment.
You cannot expect the troops to maintain moral while they are being held back from the fight without knowing when the action will start.
The PEC have provided Royal Mail with more than sufficient time to focus their minds, and the action must start on 20th November. Any later will be to late to use any advantage we have. Dingo reading between your lines I do believe you are of the same mind but you are in a difficult situation with what you can and cannot say.

and you should thank the lord for that otherwise there would be no talks or union in the first place. The question is why cant strike action for the 20th of November be announced and talks continue? So far I see no good reason for not doing so.dingo wrote:Remember a strike will damage their revenue and threaten the future of parcel force. .

Coco the Clown - I think they have been dealing with Coco the clowndvbuk55 wrote:Exactly who are the union protecting by delaying the strike action? Will RM cave in with a 1 day strike? Of course not but it should focus the senior management into realising they are not dealing with Coco the Clown because it certainly looks like that now to both RM management and serious minded members.dingo wrote:Bernard that's not what I was saying , if we have to strike then so be it and to hell with the consequences ! However does anyone think that when we strike Royal Mail concede on everything ? No they won't and guess what there will have to be a negotiation after the strike if there is one.

It makes you wonder why the ballot was taken in the first place, was it a threat to RM or just blowing smoke up the memberships arsees pretending to be macho when in fact in was more a circus performance.

I always thought that strike action was always with the intention of damaging their revenue streams. How else would it focus their minds? A job that is provided by a company purely on the basis of inferior terms and conditions in order that it can create mass returns for executives and shareholders is a job not worth having and therefore I have no scruples about damaging its viability if it has no respect for the people it employs.

Re: One day to go then...
If there is no full agreement come tomorrow then inform RM will will have a 24Hr strike in a weeks time.If they still aren't taking us seriously then we go out for 48Hrs straight the following week, and so on until we get a deal,or the whole f*****g company comes crashing down.
TBH I've had enough of all this wishy washy bollox, every time we give the union our backing and every time it seems like it was for nothing...
If Amazon and the other big players jump ship, its down to RM,not us and as long as ive worked for RM,at the end of the day its a job,not life or death.Plenty of big firms have folded in recent times and people pick themselves up and find work elsewhere.I'm not saying it would be easy, but i'm fed up being mucked about by company AND the union.
All or nothing....

Re: One day to go then...
just read the rest of the thread ... a week extension wtf are Dave/Billy and the executive f***ing playing at they said the deadline was the 13th if no agreement was reached but extended it by another f***ing week
this is the right time to grab them by the balls instead they have put RM in a stronger position by backing down
time Billy/Dave and the entire executive resigned .... I have no confidence in them
