Should the union not now adjust its position and try and get an inflation based payrise and just accept these strings will be tagged on? as it seems RM might just go ahead themselves and bring these changes in without agreement. We might aswell try get a good payrise to go with it. As much as I think we need and deserve a no strings inflation payrise realistically it’s just not going to happen. It’s a crap situation all round.Martin Walsh wrote: ↑16 May 2022, 05:59It is quite bizarre that for sometime a number of posters have been critical of not revealing everything to the members and yet when I do , I get criticised for scare mongering.
Listen the CWU want and are willing to fight for a no strings pay deal. However at this moment in time Royal Mail are offering nothing on basic pay unless we agree to those changes. If we did it is worth 2%.
Once the change has been deployed everywhere it is worth 1.5% but not backdated to April 22.
So I think it is in all members interests to understand the contrast in the CWU’s position and Royal Mail’s proposal.
Why ? Well the Dispute Resolution Procedure works both ways and Royal Mail have suggested in the talks that they will activate the 4 week process on their proposals linked to their pay offer. The end result is after 4 weeks they can decide whether they take executive action ie introducing change without agreement.
So the stakes are high and that is the reason why I believe all members need to know what is at stake here and why the CWU wants a no strings pay deal.
I will keep posting the facts even if some don’t want others to hear them !

I don't think it's criticism for scaremongering, in fact, I think its more worry that the CWU are buying into Royal Mail Scare Tactics. Its entirely possible that Royal Mail has stretched what they want to achieve so that when they give on issues they know are ridiculous they can claim it as them negotiating in good faith. When in fact the opposite may be true.Martin Walsh wrote: ↑16 May 2022, 05:59It is quite bizarre that for sometime a number of posters have been critical of not revealing everything to the members and yet when I do , I get criticised for scaremongering.
I just hope the CWU aren't falling into a baited trap. After all, there are plenty on here who see the last 2 agreements as something of a poisoned chalice despite the Union claiming it was a victory.

TBT with the upmost respect if an employer writes to the trade union detailing that we had to agree to all the changes and only then we get 2% and then once the changes are deployed we get the extra 1.5% not back dated that the CWU should know that Royal Mail don’t really want all of those strings ? Come on we have to communicate the actual offer as it stands . Any thing else is just us wrong.
What I have reported is the actual offer. Do Royal Mail want all of those issues , of course they do. Will they get all of those things ? Not if we stand together and stop them.
This ain’t about speculating whether Royal Mail really want all those things ? It is about the fact they have formally proposed in a pay offer that any pay increase is linked to us agreeing those changes.
As long as I post this site I am not going to stop telling the members what has been purposed.

The CWU had already told us what had been proposed, Royal Mail had already told us what had been proposed, you've gone further detailing YOUR take on what these things might mean.As long as I post this site I am not going to stop telling the members what has been purposed.
The question is why Martin, your posts on here have people jumping at shadows genuinely terrified for their job security, I've had female members approach me telling me they're actively looking for another job because the idea of walking around in the dark at night terrifies them, all sorts of rumours are now flying about social media about deliveries not starting until 1pm.
Members are now so frightened that they would accept a pay cut with no strings rather than see the job destroyed.
That was of course Royal Mail’s plan from the start, it seems strange that you're happy to feed that fear and do their work for them.
All the members had to know was what they had offered and that we've thrown that nonsense where it belongs, will never agree to any of it and if they try to bring it in by EA we'll unleash the dogs of war.
That is all.
What strings are you prepared to accept Martin?Well the Dispute Resolution Procedure works both ways

How about telling us exactly what the CWU has proposed - what exact percentage pay rise with absolutely no strings attached?Martin Walsh wrote: ↑16 May 2022, 10:21TBT with the upmost respect if an employer writes to the trade union detailing that we had to agree to all the changes and only then we get 2% and then once the changes are deployed we get the extra 1.5% not back dated that the CWU should know that Royal Mail don’t really want all of those strings ? Hopefully they have done rather more than proposed this - more like demanded this with the threat of all out industrial action if the demands aren't accepted. There really shouldn't be any negotiation involved this year. We don't want a pay deal - just a rise reflecting inflation.

Woody if telling the actual proposal from Royal Mail is scaring some members then it is Royal Mail’s fault not mine. I have been consistent we are not going to accept Royal Mail hiding behind a green agenda to move start times.
There has also been a recent development which will come out shortly which further exposes Royal Mail’s desire to move some deliveries much later.
You ask me what I am willing to accept ? The members reps meetings i have attended I have stated that our members deserve a inflation based pay rise not linked to strings and conditions and I am willing to fight for it.
Schiff yes the union has stated that we want a no strings pay deal but only a fool claims we are going on an all out strike. I have been one those before and you don’t carry all the members with you. Instead we will look at the biggest impact on the employer with the least impact on our members.

You're almost glorying in it.
You and Simon need to understand the detrimental effect all this unnecessary speculation is having on the mental health of the members.
This is not a game.

Why are we only hearing about these proposals on this forum?
Where are the official communications from the CWU?

The CWU Facebook page is full of photos of RM staff on RM property and in RM buildings - one of the things the company used in the legal action against a possible strike last time round. Against RM rules no matter what the reason.

The legal action was because some people were opening the ballot papers on site voting yes on the property and filming it then posting it on social media if i recall, still dont think we should do anything at all on RM property even banner waving.

That is my point. Posting those pictures now means it is more likely to happen if there is a ballot. Taking of photos on RM property is not allowed, so why seemingly encourage it.

Re: RMCtv : Ricky McAulay : Update on talks with CWU and Dispute Resolution Process
The court injunction had nothing to do with workplace meetings. The judge decided that individuals voting in an office and not at home had undermined the employment law that said that ballot paper must be sent to home addresses and the vote then cast. Instead the Judge said that units who were pictured voting in their offices had made it a workplace Ballot which was against the 1992 Employment law.
