We’ve just had a duty removed ppl going over almost every day to complete or cutting off. Parcels will increase further in the lead up to xmas and there’s just no way we’re going to have time for parcel collections as well. I’m all for change, but it needs to implemented sensibly.

If COVID 19 Pandemic was non existent then I would have no worries but for Royal Mail to offer a new service where you handle an item freshly out of a persons household who for all we know could be isolating is a farce.
Please people wear your PPE gloves when you handle these items because your lives depend on them.

I wouldn't call you an idiot but just because there are worse jobs than a post person doesn't mean its not got lots of problems and if you are unfortunate enough to have to work in a amazon warehouse its usually for a short period not really a serious job, although I'm sure some people love working for amazon and all the other sweat shops. But give RM 10 years and you will start to notice the wear and tear not only on your joints but your2yearpostie wrote:Why am i an idiot for telling the truth of how it is going to be? People want parcels delivering and collecting more now than they want a letter. Get used to it or find another job which makes you happier because the past you are hankering after has gone.mags999 wrote:2 year postie wait till your 32 year postie you may wind your neck in by then idiot
morale and self esteem and in my opinion very few people will want to give you a job after 10 years at RM.

I beg to differ, short of a police office i think most people see most of us as trustworthy and a safe pair of hands.goldy wrote: in my opinion very few people will want to give you a job after 10 years at RM.

That's OK you can beg to differ but in my experience once they see postman on your Cv your finished but it depends what type of job your applying for granted.2yearpostie wrote:I beg to differ, short of a police office i think most people see most of us as trustworthy and a safe pair of hands.goldy wrote: in my opinion very few people will want to give you a job after 10 years at RM.

If it is 5 collections per duty, is that potentially 10 collections on a van share. And on a van share, which duty will it come up against. It will be a bit pointless for it to appear on the walker's duty if it is large and the driver has to collect it - will they be swapping PDAs. I know van share could be phased out, but these collections will start before that happens.

We were told about the collections this week. Coach mentioned it is a maximum of 5 collection addresses per day but each of those addresses can have 5 parcels each for collection, so the potential for 25 parcels per day!! How the hell are we supposed to fit all that in an already fully loaded HCT.

I don't think there is any plan to have HCTs collecting parcels.Ali831 wrote: How the hell are we supposed to fit all that in an already fully loaded HCT.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Sounds like it could already be getting near to being viable to have a couple of dedicated duties per DO (or doing a delivery if not enough parcels to be collected to take them to their time)Ali831 wrote:We were told about the collections this week. Rep told us its 5 per duty & upto 5 per delivery point = upto 25 parcels. Potentially upto 50 per van share but until its trialled we wont know if its 1 or 2 parcels or 30 / 40 we get.

Only 5 slots are available to be booked per delivery per day. Bit like supermarket home deliveries in a way. They'll have to remove the limit at some point because regular senders aren't going to tolerate such a potentially limited service.wallan wrote:

The limit won’t change as this product is aimed at internet shopping returns not home businesses sending items. Home businesses have to pay a few thousand pounds a year unless they spend over a certain amount on postage in which case they get a free collection.
