The problem is £712 million isn't enough profit for them. You have to remember, business people are horrible people and would sell/do anything to make that profit.mark.cup wrote:Royal Mail always looks for new solutions to problems that don't exist! It's the nature of business, they are obliged to maximise profits for the shareholders, and nothing to do with being "nasty".The problem is £712 million isn't enough profit for them. You have to remember, business people are horrible people and would sell/do anything to make that profit.

It's the nature of the short-term asset stripper, I'm not sure that's necessarily the same as the nature of business. Isn't there something called a sustainable business model that you invest in and grow to "maximise profits" in the future? Isn't that the Amazon model, the Google model, the Microsoft and Apple model? Isn't that the true nature of business in the 21st century? Cutting to the bone usually kills the patient in the end.Tman wrote:It's the nature of business, they are obliged to maximise profits for the shareholders, and nothing to do with being "nasty".The problem is £712 million isn't enough profit for them. What has "asset-stripping" got to do with it?
Nothing, as far as I can tell.
Businesses maximise profits, that's what they do, and there's no relationship there to the (very) short-termism that is asset-stripping.
Google,Apple and the rest, despite their little touchy-feely Californian ways, are aggressive money-makers....again, don't see them asset-stripping in any shape or form though.

Royal Mail has sold more property since privatisation than in its combined 500 year history. What do you think we've been paying the shareholders with?, asset stripping, it's not rocket science.

That may be true, but it wasn't the original point being made, was it?

You probably can't, unfortunately with the way that the staffing is going in MCs, you'll be getting more manual soon, as it seems like were down to the bone with mech staffingTrueBlueTerrier wrote:But without frames WE CANTSpacePhoenix wrote:And it would likely be sent straight back to the DO. If RM bring in the one wave then i'm afraid DOs will have to get used to even more manual as we won't have the time to sequence more than probably about 14-15 traysTrueBlueTerrier wrote:SpacePhoenix wrote:An hour a day less in which to run the wave 1 so less boxes will get run. There won't be capacity to run it on wave 2 so it'll have to go manualgary1975 wrote:How's that going to work seeing rm want to remove prep frames from Do'sSpacePhoenix wrote:If they do bring in the 35hr week then DOs are probably going to find more mech mail will come through as manual during the busier times of the year
His point is that with no prep frames we won't be able to do any manual except the bare minimum. It'll probably come straight back because sorting manual will have a huge impact on the outside aspect.![]()
