Leave the CWU Crusade
I do not expect anyone to join me in leaving the union but if you do post it in here and hopefully the numbers will rise and the CWU can go f**k themselves, we should not pay them any longer they have sold us the f**k out

Re: Leave the CWU Crusade
I am considering leaving but as others have said elsewhere It might be prudent to stay in at the moment as I can see lots of potential harassment by managers when I cut off! I may need my local rep for protection!

Re: Leave the CWU Crusade
A think you'll find local reps might jump ship first the agreement will be abused by managers and local reps will be left to deal with it with no support, unhappy membership. The agreement will only work if management adhere to it,this will not be the case as the rouge managers have the upper hand now.The agenda i.e R Mails workplan is now full steam ahead endorsed by the CWU hierachy local reps have absolutely no chance and will only be seen as a thorn in managements side.

Save a bit of money by not ringing the 0845 number.
0114 241 8890 will get you through to the same place for a fraction of the cost.
On the 0845 number, Royal Fail get a cut of the payment from BT.

I JUST COME OUT PHUQ THE CWUcapricorn wrote:Thats it, I can see no reason to support a union that is not going to protect me or the job.
If this is the best "Fat cat Billy" can do he will be suited to joining all the the slimy toads in Westminster.
£12 a month better off, it would take over £12 a week to even approach break-even point on this deal.
I just hope there is a good EVR package waiting in the wings.

Re: RING THIS NUMBER TO CANCEL UNION SUBS
It is a plan you are right, but it is not a good plan.banner18 wrote:The fact is, whatever the negative aspects of the agreement are, it is a plan. It is a way of moving forward for all and dealing with the reality of DSA and liberalization. Is your plan to go on strike until the government outlaws DSA? Do you think that the status quo is tenable? Do you want RM to turn back to the working practices of ten years ago?
The fact is that RM has to turn a healthy profit to remain viable. DSA etc.. is being used to beat RM down so that they are forced to modernize working practices in line with most modern companies.
The other option would be for RM to slash wages, but this would not be helping RM to become a modern company using machinery and all resources to their fullest.
It surely is about looking at the bigger picture here. If other industries had not gone through modernization programmes, the economy would not be able to support the wage levels that exist now across the board for all workers, which we as well enjoy.
People like you do not see the future too clearly, you speak of strikes as though that is the only alternative.
The real future was in the CWU to have the vision to put forward proposals that did embrace modernisation but not at the expense of the workforce. We unfortunately have a union that relies heavily on RM for financial support and is therefore not autonomous but merely accept RM dogma and then put that forward as progress. Well in the immortal words of Jim Royle - progress my arse. They have clearly failed the membership on several levels and that problem is endemic within the organisation which employs semi literates as spokesmen.
The option would be for RM to slash wages - wake up, that is precisely what they have done, it will take 2 years to reach the income levels we enjoy now and a third year which may involve yet another cut.
This deal is just another freebie ride for the union for the next three years - just like the 2007 agreement which many on here also voted against but were democratically? defeated but were subsequently vindicated by the overwhelming calls for industrial action and this deal will be no different because it is more of the same.
The one fact I take comfort from is that they won't be enjoying the good life on my money anymore.

Re: LEAVING THE UNION.......................THIS WAY LADS...
I to believe the union has let down it"s members. The overiding fact is that Royal Mail cannot be trusted, they will renage on this deal. The union hierachy have been conned into this deal,no one can surley believe that having a longer saturday will be better for staff. As for the fulltime/partime ratio you only have to look on the ukgov job website to see that every job that Royal Mail is advertising is partime. As for me I am not even going to wait for an evr package I am OUT.

"It’s a sad day when the executive can’t make a judgement call"
This was Billy Hayes' response when the CWU conference in 2007 overturned the PEC's decision to back Alan Johnson for the deputy leadership of the Labour party. This reply reveals everything we need to know about the way the current leadership view their roles in the CWU.

Re: RING THIS NUMBER TO CANCEL UNION SUBS
Terrible agreement and result!
We have been shafted!
A 3yr pay deal with no foresight of what the future economic climate will bring, well done ideed!
More d-2-d to deliver and effectively delivering some for nothing, well done once more!
I've not heard anything about maxium delivery timespan either, so what's it gonna be then? 3hrs,4hrs, 5hrs+. Seems like the union have this obession about "local argreement this" "local agreement that" do they not realise this gives the bosses just the scope they need to bulldozer ANYTHING they want in. Funny isn't it when the union want our support it's "stick together lads" then we get screwed with all kind of things that have to be sorted out office by office. Who will support an individual office if the bosses are heavy handed??? answer NOBODY! You will be left islolated and therefore eventually you will have to submit to the whims of the bosses knowing that your colleagues locally or otherwise will really give a damn. I'm absolutely disgusted and ashamed of this agreement knowing that at Christmas time we had real leverage for a decent deal and ....once more we caved in (Mr Hayes & co. take note). I am not an unreasonable person and understand that change has to happen but once more the negotiators have placed a carrot (£400) infront of the staff and unfortunately the naive have accepted it, do they realise it was our money to have anyway??? Bear in mind as we did not get a pay rise last year, this is in fact a 4 year deal, therefore the figures dont look so inviting now do they.
I have always supported the union every step of the way over the years of my employment but no more. I, like lots of others I suspect have decidedd to call it a day and give myself a £3 per week pay rise, with no strings attached :-) I hope lots of others in my office and nationally decide to do the same and join me. Then when the union realises it has cocked up BIG TIME an finally decides to work FOR the membership instead of sleeping with the management, we may consider rejoining - we will see.
As a final note, does anyone know the salary of Mr Hayes and his underlings ? Once heard it was about £70k - it sure puts my £18.5k to shame but at least I can lie straight in bed at night with no guilty conscience.
