Re: Door 2 door exposing the myths !!
For those on wallington walks (or work 6 days a week and week off every 6 weeks)
This 20 pounds extra on pay do this means we will have extra 8 (or 9) weeks money for floating week off and 4 weeks for annual leave (roughly).
so that is about 240 pounds earned without lifting a finger.

Delivery spans will meet the objectives of the membership in the D.O, you get together work out what you want 4 day week 9 day fortnight earnings the 1 in 4 saturdays off and the delivery span is planned around that and you then align it with the most suitable delivery method/equipment.

Yes it does mean that as it is a guaranteed additon to basic pay and will be paid every week of the year and will increase from year 2 in every pay rise.Carew wrote:For those on wallington walks (or work 6 days a week and week off every 6 weeks)

Mr crozier told him.
Dingo. I'd love to see RM try and turn deliveries into a part time job, as part time is based on a 4 hour day so getting a walk fully prepped, knock downs,re dir's, packets and bagging up then going out and trying to deliver it all in 4 hours would be some f***ing achievement in my eyes dont you agree??? Some people are out delivering for 4 or 5 hours now as it is and they are trying to make the walks bigger??? Oh and what happens when these WSM break down eh?? As they will so it will be back to manually sorting again, also what happens when these vans break down, get a puncture etc??? Nobody will be using thier own cars as it states in the agreement. Or these questions need to be answered but no one is willing to answer them why??? I think i know why because RM will expect goodwill to come into it and after the new agreement thats just been published they can stick thier goodwill up thier arses!!! See this will fail/wont work and RM will end up either failing everyday to deliver what they say they can or it will cost em thousands in OT and expenses each week.

Re: Door 2 door exposing the myths !!
But Daz we know that isn't going to happen, when we had Geo come in a couple of years ago, we tried to get as much info from the planners as we could, we got nowhere, I grabbed all the info I could from here, and tried to get them to implement what changes we thought needed to be main, for things like terrain, acceeraltion etc, and got nowhere quick, the planers are not prepared to make any changes.Big Daz wrote:spilie wrote:thanks for that daz i feel much better the old "the best they could" we negotiate a pay cut but dont worry in 2 years we will be back to square one, and lets not even talk about the delivery spans, workloads or unachieavable targets

We've got the same planners back, and it is no better, in fact if anything it's worse, as we can't get any solid info from them at all, our office seems to me to still be running on Execitive Action, and yes we have a Rep and a committee, and even have the Ass Area rep coming in at least every other week.
We feel as though we're banging our heads against a wall, it's very demaralising, and hard work to try and improve the office at all, we've a 60/40 ft/pt split and I don't see that changing any time quick.
And from reading on here, we seem to be in a better postition than lots of other offices, so what can we look forward to, not just less money, but even more trouble getting anything from management.
I'll still be voting no at the moment, until I'm blackmailed into voting yes, because of the pension mess.

So many threads but nearly all of them talking about the same thing "I will lose blah". So much for being united. In the end it comes down to individual gripes and no one caring about the bigger picture. Dingo has it spot on and some of you just don't have the noddle to see why the CWU are backing this. By all means go out on strike again and kiss your ass goodbye. It will be fun to watch. Might even get my deckchair out again for this one.

On a fishing expedition there NT
I tend to agree that we have to look at the bigger picture as well however I would not say it in the way you have. I would also say that at this stage there is no need to be united as at the moment we are only discussing the deal and quite rightly people are focusing on how the deal has affected them personally as that is always the first position anyone works from - including may I suggest you.
The time for unity and solidarity is when we have had the chance to vote, and then in line with the democratic policies we should accept the decision of the majority even if we don't agree with it.
The biggest error is not in members failing to see the bigger picture but is in HQ failing to present the deal in those terms in plain English. There biggest error, and in this I would include ACAS, Roger Poole and RM is the secrecy whilst the discussion were going on. If RM/CWU had been more open about the deal its implications and what their main reasons for accepting/offering the deal I have a feeling that more would be more inclined to accept it. I for one, even though I am still reading the offer carefully, I feel my initial reaction "NO" is perhaps not as strong as it was however I will come down on one side or the other by the middle of next week and I will also do a mega post explaining what I feel are good parts of the deal and what I feel are bad parts. I will then decide on balance of choices what I will vote. I hope everyone does the same.

it would seem people are united in the fact were fed up with being treated like sh*t by all sides.Night Tonic wrote:So many threads but nearly all of them talking about the same thing "I will lose blah". If the union told us that we'd be down 30 quid for going on strike we probably would have stayed in. If royal mail had told us we would have to do unlimited D2D for £20.60 we wouldve gone on strike. Madness innit?
Youre right about this being fun to watch though. D2D into workload and park and loop will be an operational nightmare for Royal Mail. More work for less pay makes the workforce unmotivated. Do you really think the average person is going to be flexible and worry about being in the top 10% with an increased workload and less pay? Not a chance. The workforce doesnt care about the job anymore. All we care about is the extra tenner here and there and it shows...this 'lets treat workers like crap to get what we want' attitude is bad for business and Royal Mails biggest industrial blunder.
Royal Mail are planning their own destruction with this agreement and I for one cant wait to laugh in their faces when it happens.

It doesn't take long for some to start wavering does it, "well on reflection, lets not be hasty, its more obvious why the union accepted this deal, lets explode the myth"
Most peoples gut reaction was negative and they always say trust your instinct, if it looks like bullshit, smells like bullshit then it IS bullshit.

Re: Door 2 door exposing the myths !!
How is that the case? If I am taking 20% of 3 door to doors just now and have an average call rate of say 85%, how will taking 20% of 5,6,7... however many door to doors make any difference to my call rate?dingo wrote:This figure on call rates is based on the current levels on door to door which is 2.1 if the product increases then it will mean more hours left in your office. In regards to the plastic sleeves they are used in Holland and Germany and Sweden where the actual door 2 doors are designed to come out of the sleeve when you post them. With regards to 100% call rate well the aim is that you do 20% of your total door to door on each day so thats 20% of your total items. Now of course if door 2 door grows then the call rate will grow.Jimmy Carr`s laugh wrote:numan wrote:NewPostieUK wrote:dingo wrote: If you have 500 delivery points and currently an 85% call rate if you then include door to door into workload then your call rate will go up to 88% .
How did you work that out?
Because they're still wanting us to take a percentage daily, the 100% call rate was a fantasy.
So you get 8 lots of d2d and dont go to every house every day ? How the hell do you do them then ? Take 8 lots mon & tue and then go to every house wed.thu, fri with the post anyway ??Or do you do your d2d on wed/thu/fri and leave the office at 1230 , make up 9 extra bags, and bring 6 rows back coz your finish time is 1:30
![]()
either way it cant be done ! Prepping the feckers is a mare when youve 3 lots - imagine 8 or 9 ?? And remember boys, you cant put them inside each other, you must do them seperately, meaning less time on the streets![]()
PS for what its worth, ive had 3 lots every week for 8 years !! And I get £27.50, and £12.50 early shift, thats £40.00 - now im gona get £20.60 and an EXTRA 5-6 lots of D2D to boot !!I think you know what me and many like me are voting !!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
