As customer needs change and we see a greater shift from letters to parcels, it is vital that the Universal Service adapts to stay relevant and sustainable.

we are running roadshows up and down the country at the moment - asking our customers what they would like from Royal Mail in the future - we will let you know what they say in the not too distant future

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Royal Mail has considered these pricing changes very carefully in light of the long term structural decline in letter usage and rising inflation.
Rather than drop the price to encourage more customers to use the service we shall continue to gouge the few suckers that continue to support us. This will maintain the high level in shareholder payouts while we can record a further drop in mail with which to further justify our attack on the USO.

Letter volumes have declined by more than 60 percent since their peak in 2004/5, and around 20 percent since the start of the pandemic.
Does anyone else get the feeling they've been feeding us the "mail's down" line for a LOT longer?
What's the odds that we saw a increase in mail at the start of the pandemic larger than the 20% drop they're moaning about now?
"A third of the world's farmland is now useless due to soil degradation, yet we still keep producing mouths to feed. And what's you answer to that? Energy saving lightbulbs?"

sometimes it is good to take the time - to look at how we behave and work with our unions versus others - and our T&Cs versus others - perhaps Royal Mail is not as bad as we sometimes believe

Regarding the P&O debacle - you lucky people!

Simon 'Cough cough-sniff sniff' Thompson

we have recruited 3,000 extra posties over the last 12 mths - absence is x10 the issue - and needs a rapid fix - plus the cost of absence and temporary workers over the last twelve months is £340m - all I can see is a big bill - so look extra ( staff) to me! - these new recruits are on the back of revisions, which is the right approach - but as I have said, which is key - and not talked about enough - solving absence will have a much much much bigger impact on quality - we have enormous productivity differences between offices and locations (such as Scotland v London)

Simon posts up the Trade Union Rich List from the Taxpayers Alliance on Workplace...
Easy money

After some complaints...

Simon 'Do you know how much your union bods are scamming your subs?' Thompson

it was an interesting data source - we are doing a ton of research on pay at the moment - I have taken it down now - to keep the peace - I confess I was a touch surprised at the reaction…!

Simon should think very carefully before getting into bed with The Taxpayers Alliance.

Therein lies a very murky world of dubious funding practices, political interference and right wing propaganda.

These guys are the descendents of the guys that ran the workhouses.

Odd is putting it mildly. The guys a company drone with no empathy. Every word that comes out his mouth is corporate jargon with no real meaning. The way he has adopted the word team to address us is the most nauseating and condescending nonsense I’ve ever seen, would rather he just called us c*nts at least it would be real. Terry likes him though so we are screwed.

It has started to dawn on Terry that he has been taken for a ride by Super Si. The trouble is, the rest of us have been towed along on the journey. Terry didn't do much about some of the derogatory comments against the workforce, so it could be interesting to see any reaction now the remarks are being aimed at him.

failing the workforce, failing the public and deliberately failing mail on a daily basis for too many years.
