Martin,
Thanks for clarifying.
All I know, having worked at Rm for a lot of years, is when a manager opens his mouth he's usually lying.
And that is the impression I have had surrounding this issue so far.
If there is a process that has been agreed, fantastic.
Let's just hope it gets followed, and forgive me for being sceptical, but I highly doubt it will be.

Full compliance to all delivery methods , you must be having a laugh with that .

There are 44 pages and 20 odd appendix’s which will be the structural revision guidance.
I think to be fair going by pastshenanigans, that is a crock of s**t for many a delivery office around the business.

Do Royal Mail agree to this crap to blind us and does The CWU agree to it to hold on to subs, I can't work it out either way.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

At the end of the day, the proof will be in the pudding.
Tbh, I'm actually sick of feeling negative about it, but as said above, it's all just words, lots of them.
One thing is simple, our office is under resourced, and we have had maybe 5 thousand houses added into our postcode area in the last 10 years, walks are left in regularly, the place is run on overtime and goodwill.
If no hours are put in, there's your pudding.
I have a feeling I know what the pudding will taste like.

Owned by the manager and the rep?
WTF is that all about?

There is a vote at the end of this process ....isn't there?

Woody it has been agreed

Prior to the revision sign off, all CWU affected members in the unit will vote in a local ballot on the proposed revision arrangements. This local ballot can be a local meeting of CWU members or a local workplace ballot.

Timing of Duty Resign – agreed locally and in line with National Agreements and revision timeline.

In fairness to those who negotiated, I suspect often these things are agreed in good faith (though I'm not always certain that both sides think what the 'joint statement' or guidelines or whatever mean what the other side think).

However it's my experience that regardless of the above, it gets f****d up by a sometimes combination of indolence and incompetence on the part of those tasked with devising the revisions and always by higher ranking middle managers undermining whatever is achieved as soon as the possibly can in order to further their own agenda (usually 'saving money' so as to appear fantastic to their own boss).

Which means they will be presented with a fait accompli?
What work will be done beforehand to ensure the revision reflects the wishes of the unit and not those of the rep and DOM?

These revisions include D2D warm calling.

Martin is the union aware that one of the processes already underway is space optimisation in delivery units to maximise floor space to deal with the increase in the core and afternoon parcel operation.

One of the side effects of this is condensing RM 2000 frames and converting to double and in some cases triple slots in a C frame double duty format.

How the hell does D2D warm calling work on a frame full of double and triple slots? This seems like a perfect example of those making the decision not having a clue about the realities of the job.
Will we be able to reverse this process to allow for warm calling?

Woody there is an whole section on warm calling and yes we know we are after all negotiating with the same people who has introduced it into offices. The problem is that the cost of D2D has increased due to the drop in call rate and this is one of the reasons D2D numbers have declined.

Warm calling is a chance to stem that decline and make D2D more competitive.

I realise some don’t like D2D but it protects jobs and provides 27 pound per week supplement 52 weeks per year.

Clash I have already posted the meeting which starts at the beginning of the revision to discuss attendance patterns, delivery spans , earnings , full time and part time mix.

However there is regular communications all the way through built into the process as well as a joint sign off at each stage.

So no one can argue if there is not built in a consultation process into the Revision process.

If members believe that the Rep is not consulting them then they need to take this issue up , after all the union starts in the workplace and not simply blaming those up the ladder !

I'm not against warm calling.
I'm saying it's impractical if you are at the same time condensing frames.

Have you ever tried to work on a frame that's all double slots?
You can't efficiently warm call D2D unless you have single slots.

On another related note, if we're leaving D2D in the frame there's a good chance some of the mail is going to get left too. It's a messy and time consuming process. Have they really thought this through past the original brain fart?

The duty I’ve been doing during covid is all double slots and when there’s d2d’s it’s so time consuming sifting through the mail and then having to write the house number on the d2d your not gonna take before putting it back in its slot, it’s not a very efficient way of working at all.
