Re: Walks over 3.5 hours
Its all well and good people saying your walk should only be 3.5 hours and if it's more then cut off etc etc. But if your leaving the office at say 10am then that would only take you up until 13:30, our workhours through the week in our office are 45m-1hr past that. Do I really want RM to say here's your 3.5 walk and here's your 34 hour contract to go with it? Not really!!!

Exactly. The original post was from 2008, walk sequenced mail and less IPS introduced since then leaves more time to do a walk for most places, thats the issue. Thinking about it a 0-35 hour week would suit all governments (less unemployed figures with more P/T than F/T staff) and big companies (0 hour contracts and self employed, top up benefits etc).Pete22 wrote:sussexlad wrote:Its all well and good people saying your walk should only be 3.5 hours and if it's more then cut off etc etc. But if your leaving the office at say 10am then that would only take you up until 13:30, our workhours through the week in our office are 45m-1hr past that. It's been ok in the past and in some offices still ok to make time at the moment, but will it keep like that in the future ?
Best way for workers would be not rush in early, not rush out early on delivery, use the LWT if the walk has been designed that way.
Trouble is the Job and Knock mentality and trying to finish early is so engrained into most posties.

Re: Walks over 3.5 hours
Maybe there's less IPS but I bet there are a lot less people to do it in most offices. In 2008 we would have 10-12 on IPS, now it's 3-6 depending on the day and staffing. Then there's the massive rise in parcels since then, plus all the tracked etc that take more time to deliver and mess about with the PDA. The same delivery would take longer now than in 2008.motch wrote:Exactly.
