Odd you should say that, my ex rep said only yesterday he'd had a disagreement in for 6 months over the FT/PT ratio now running at 55/65, a far cry from the 75/25 ratio touted as the optimum realisation, with absolutely no support from Area or Div. He actually quoted the dingo "grow a pair" advice, he stated having a pair wasn't the problem having the support from the hierarchy was. How difficult it is now for a rep with a workforce of FT/PT ratio so disproportionate when the PT members are reluctant to join the union. Surely the dimmest of union officials must see how unity is a long gone ideal when most of the workforce are being held to ransom on part time contracts and are reluctant to join the union.
The ratio can't be 55/65, so I will assume a typo and you mean 55/45?
How so? There are 55 full timers and 65 part timers - it's not a percentage, it's an actual breakdown of the workforce.
When it is compared to the 75/25 ratio then it is a percentage.
The ratio in that office is then considered 45/55 (it is actually 46/54 if someone wishes to be pedantic lol)

Ratios
A ratio is a proportional relationship of one value to another, e.g., the ratio of gas to oil in chain saw mix. Ratios can be written either as a fraction, 1/2, or in ratio notation, 1:2. The value of a ratio is the division of the first number by the second number. For example, consider the ratio 1:40 . This ratio is read as "1 to 40". Any fraction, for instance, 1/20, can also be written as a ratio: 1:20
Example 1 - The Mara Bella District has 6 engines. The Baldy District has 5 engines. What is the ratio of engines in the Mara Bella versus the Baldy districts?
The ratio of engines in the Mara Bella versus Baldy districts is 6:5 or 6/5.
Percentages
A percentage is another way of describing a ratio with respect to 100. Percent (%) is a value corresponding to how many out of a hundred (per hundred). For instance, if 92 out of 100 firefighters have completed the FireFighter Math course, the ratio of firefighters completing the course is 92:100, and the percentage is written as 92%.
Consequently the ratio is 55 full timers to 65 part timers or 55/65.
Actually, the ratio would be 55:65 - or more correctly 11:13

I fully understand what a ratio is. The fact is though that the comparison is being made to the aspirational ratio of 75:25
The only way to compare the ratios is to compare them as ratios of 100. Otherwise why not break down each ratio to their lowest form ie. The 75:25 simply becomes 3:1.
Therefore, for the aspiration to be met at the particular office then 35 part-timers would be required to be made up to full-time so that the actual workforce was split 90:30, or 3:1, or in fact 75:25

Well apparently not, you seem to be confusing a ratio with a percentage - a ratio is a stand alone comparison of two standards in this case, one full time 55 and one part time 65. Sorry if you find this a little confusing.

No I am not confusing anything. It appears you are unable to read the explanation I provided however!

Got to admit, that was not the kind of letter I expected to see. I think it was rather weak, I don't see this being a 'management only' program, I don't see management not doing opg work, I don't see all the agreements being kept to, I see issues of bulling increasing.
Just seems to be going down hill especially as it looks as though our payrise has been given to shareholders now, I don't see us getting anything decent.
We have to remember there isn't any bullying in royal mail moya said so we all go into work with a spring in our step
If this is all Gibson can come up with along with his idiotic summer lapsing plans then there is no hope for us. Let him and his cronies spend a month in a D.O. that'll soon bring them into the real world.

Well I suppose he would start at the correct time, take his meal relief at the right time, use the proper equipment designated for the duty he is on and if he was unable to complete within his contracted hours he would either claim overtime or use the overrunning delivery procedure.
What else is there?

Some do and then have to deal with being singled out, victimisation, pressure tactics, constantly watched and criticised. Generally pushed to breaking point and a lot do crack under the pressure, seen it many a time and then they start skipping meal relief coming in early and rushing round just to avoid hassle from managers. Gibson needs to see what people go through on a daily basis through his own eyes not what's supposed to happen when its written down on a piece of paper.
I totally agree with you sugar, it's all very well banging the drum about doing the job properly and members being there own worst enemy, that's all true but doesn't address the reality of the situation.
