Re: Pay deal ends in march
I would imagine a shorter working week and pay rise would mean voting in favour of a single wave later starts, once they get that its the new machines bench merging and the end of the job as we know it

FFS Lads let's ALL start getting EVERYONE on side for this next Clusterfuck! If they want to dangle a few manky carrots in order to push through this "Single Wave" (more like Bloody Tsunami) than lets start waking up the Drones.
I'm going to go on Dirty Protest in the Staff Canteen before I accept this next next stage of Total Bollocks!

Also depends on whether the senior managers want a pay-off too. One positive of a pay freeze our subs can't go up.

One thing when discussing pay will be that since privatisation 440 million pounds has gone out of the business paying shareholders a dividend , which would have been available to be invested back in the business or spent on pay and benefits.

Why not ask when all this outside private investment and expertise we were promised after privatisation will turn up, it still looks like the same bunch of clueless numpties in charge to me, they might have shuffled the pack a bit but we keep getting dealt jokers. £440 million is a drop in the ocean to what these guys have blown on world class mail, s**t vans, useless PDAs and 101 different pieces of crap that any postie could have told them was a waste of time and money.dingo wrote:One thing when discussing pay will be that since privatisation 440 million pounds has gone out of the business paying shareholders a dividend , which would have been available to be invested back in the business or spent on pay and benefits.

Like dog pegs but as to dingo's post the government had a cash cow with royalmail of £330 million a year even 20+ years ago but first the conservatives and then NEW LABOUR tried repeatedly to privatise RM and the CONDEMS did but ultimately we cannot change the fact we now are a business and we are owned by shareholders of which we are 11%. But it will not stop us from fighting for the best conditions in the industry that we can get but that will only happen if we all stand together and not divide ourselves.fishtank wrote:Why not ask when all this outside private investment and expertise we were promised after privatisation will turn up, it still looks like the same bunch of clueless numpties in charge to me, they might have shuffled the pack a bit but we keep getting dealt jokers.

Re: Pay deal ends in march
Fish do you think we have not all said that over and over again at meetings with senior managers at manager conferences and joint meetings as well as conferences or briefings ?
Royal Mail have made so many mistakes over the years including. Rebranding to Consginia , moving big parcels out of Royal Mail , ending data post , buying foreign parcel companies and then selling them for pennies only to find out the GLS the only other foreign parcel company they own now is the real reason why Royal Mail profit results have been good , TQM money wasted , world class money wasted , purchase letter sequencing machines when they claim letters are in decline the list is endless !
However they are the employer who is now priviatisated and if we did not have the legal guarantees let's be clear like BT like British Gas , LEB , Water industry or most other privitased industries and it is a two tier workforce with people bought into industries to do the work cheaper and then to get rid of the most expensive staff , it is also to outsource , look at who Royal Mail recently bought E courier and they are doing all the same day contracts which Royal Mail have including House of Fraser , ASOS, Amazon to name a few and Royal Mail pay them £4 per successful delivery , no holidays , no sick pay , no pension and they have supply their own van , own insurance and own Derv.
Franchising is also something which interested Royal Mail prior to Agenda for Growth agreement. look at the parcel force model 25% owner drivers price per item and no other benefits
Whilst I fully accept that everyone just looks at their own pay , their own walk and job there are so many threats out there and anyone who do not believe that Royal Mail did not want to do that then look at the Ofcom review and also the discussions at the shareholders meetings !
The CWU gets a lot of Criticism but the Trade Union movement has praised the CWU for that agreement and it was used in the National portrait Gallery Dispute and asisted resolving that dispute.
