No, I don't and can get mine in way quicker than those around me who nest them.
that may well be, but either way,,,,if you don't nest them, then when you are out and at someones door, you may have to go through 10 or 12 mail items of mail at a letterbox which would slow you down. you may prep quicker but that time is lost going through loads of loose un-nested d2ds when you are out.. its a 6 and two 3s. personally I find it much easier nesting them when you have multiple sets. and ive never ever been told that you cannot nest them (except for election material). can someone show me where it says you are not doing the job properly if you nest them, and why its wrong to do so.

Reason why its wrong to do so is simply that companies are not paying us to hide their leaflets inside another companies leaflet

from the d2d into workload documents:

• The standard procedure for collating and sorting D2D items
varies as follows according to number of contracts:
1 or 2 Contracts
• Obtain D2D items for contract and place on bench
• Pick up handful and place one item in slot for each delivery point on
that day's schedule
• Tidy away D2D
• Repeat for second contract
• Clear down D2D with ordinary mail from slots containing live mail

3 or more contracts
• Position one pile of D2D on bench for each contract
• Take item from top of each pile and place collated items in slot for
each delivery point on that day's schedule

• Tidy away D2D
• Clear down D2D with ordinary mail from slots containing live mail

Note specifically says collated not nested and also

Outdoor Operation • Where delivery is performed in pairs (shared van delivery)
both OPGs must adopt the same way of working at all times
• Whilst D2D volumes are likely to increase this could be
offset by declining volumes of addressed mail. When planning
a revision it is essential to ensure that the most
appropriate delivery method is selected and that weight
limits are adhered to at all times.
• Note: D2D items should not be merged with other mails at the
doorstep.

Odd!

Is this not suggesting that we only take D2D items to properties with other items for delivery?

yet,,when we were sold this pile of shite,, and the point of ''unlimited'' d2ds slowing us down was mentioned at ''roadshows'' and even in the courier, it was stated that when it was up and running properly, it was envisaged that we would receive d2ds pre-collated in an envelope....essentially...''nested''. obviously cost knocked that idea on the head.....so it doesn't actually say ''do not nest''. and even if they are nested, once they hit the floor the nearly always splatter on the floor making each leaflet visible. as far as im concerned you are not doing the job incorrectly if you nest them... I bet there are thousands who do it.

@daveyeff

Why would a political party trying to sell its campaign, be treated any differently to a pizza company trying to sell its cheap Wednesdays?

Both customers are paying to have the best chance of their wares being advertised. They spend one hell of a lot of money designing these things for best impact and would certainly not agree for you to be effectively negating that financial outlay.

Two reasons for not nesting.

1/ The advertiser has not paid a small fortune to have their brochure/flyer tucked away into a larger item where it might not be seen.

2/ It is easy in the process of throwing in, to place other mail inside the nested advertising and once delivered the recipient may throw away important mail thinking it all to be unwanted advertising information.

The company instruction is that non addressed mail should not be nested because of these points.

Nested items are easily dumped in a single throw and all the smaller items won't even be looked at.

1/ I don't think the advertiser states the request about not 'nesting'. otherwise it would be all over the noticeboards up and down the country that this is a mandatory rule. (like h&s have posters all over about dogs etc). everybody in our office does it, and managers watch us do it, and we haven't been instructed otherwise. I think RM guarantee the delivery of the advertisers items by a certain date and that's it. a bit like the railways guarantee to get you from A to B but don't guarantee you a seat. 2/ its easy to lose a ''proper'' item of mail in amongst a slot full of d2ds, especially when its a double slot and you have 6 sets of them resulting in 12 items of d2ds per slot. misdeliveries would inevitably be the result of that method,,,not to mention how time consuming it would be at each door. I will continue to nest until instructed otherwise.

If you ignore all the raving reviews and check about the tenth review down, someone gives an insight to what they think of their DTDs being nested.

The difference is, we actually get paid for the election stuff! As a result I'm a lot more tolerant of the extra hassle in doing them "properly".
