Wouldn't be so sure with RM part privatized now it's at the whim of market forces. Starting with Sunday collections/part-delivery is simply a process to gradually accustom staff/public to the idea. More will follow.

It will be one or two people per office, and the office docket kings will be fighting over it. The retailers who have a high st presence will push collect from store, so it will just be a small number of large on-line only retailers, so the amount of parcels per office for sunday dilivery will be small.

I think that after it's been trialled within the M25 it will be brought in wherever it is deemed to be financially viable, which means big cities, this Autumn, in time for the Xmas pressure.

I would have thought that there would be adequate volunteers , it may not even from the unit as remember say in London there are 30 callers offices opening and it is from these 30 offices that all the Sunday delivery OPGs work from then we have over 100 offices within London and plenty of trained callers officers.

But we are working on which officers and there will be plenty of information in due course.

Unless the parcel delivery side is new work then it will be pointless.
Taking work out of Saturday/Monday/Tuesday won't help in the slightest.

Opening the callers on Sunday might be good PR for RM, but how much is that really worth to them?

How long is the trial due to last?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

There is expected to be a demand Royal Mail have been in talks and its is expected to be over and above what is done during the week. However it will take some time to establish how much more work hence the trial.

Now in terms of callers officer opening well again it twofold one it will be there for returns when Royal Mail announce their new First Time Delivery process which is now an agreement with the CWU. In addition Royal Mail are in talks over companies who are moving to call and collect using Royal Mail callers offices especially on Sunday.

I suspect that you may well be right but, unfortunately, we have to run fast to stand still these days.

Our customers, Amazon and the such-like, offer their customers Sunday deliveries and unless we are prepared to offer them the service they can and will go looking elsewhere. (BTW Hermes start Sunday deliveries in June.)

I have my doubts that it will bring in much additional business for RM, more likely it will simply help us hold on to that which we already have.

Many callers offices have not enough room . They are not big enough to take other companies parcels.

It will not be aimed at smaller callers offices and under customer and you there is a programme for updating callers offices. Equally only the 100 callers offices with the most parcel deliveries and returns will be opening on Sundays.

Does that mean we are only providing the service to the few? Lots of people may like to collect their parcel on the way to church only to find that for them the service is denied.

The trial is to only 100 callers offices which have the most returns and numbers of parcels. Equally the trial on Sunday delivery is only within the M25.
